Hi, is AMC still on air. I had it in my guide about week ago but now the channel is missing completely. Get TCM ok but no AMC. My brother has also noticed it has dropped from the guide. I have tried everything , reset all my receivers, etc but nil. Appreciate any updated info. thanks.

your forced to pay for lots of channels that you never watch if you want certain channels.

i though i was going to like amc, but same movies all the time. put new one. i prefer so far tcm on 292. at least they are showing movies that i haven't seen with no commercials.

Speaking of paying for channels could you imagine how much we would be paying if television stations had no commercials. None of us could afford satelite of cable television. Thats why the price of premium services are so high because they don't show any commercials.

Well, until you put your own satellite in the air and negotiate programming deals with channel providers and the CRTC, I guess you'll just have to suffer along with it.

As the PVR comment shows, if a forum exists long enough, there'll be a complaint about everything. I love my PVR and would hate to go back to vhs tape. Yes, sometimes you can skip a little too far, but that's what the back button is for.

As far as AMC, maybe if we could muster up enough original programming here in Canada, we wouldn't have to go begging to the USA for programming. We can't all sit around watching Corner Gas re-runs, Little Mosque on The Prairie, and the Air Farce all day.

What is Shaw Broadcast (SBS)?

And what channel is AMC on Bell? Is it available to all subscribers as a free preview?

Where did you read price increase on website? I looked but could not find any info.

The worst thing about AMC is the amount of commercials shows during the movies. Many movies which have normal runtimes of 2 hours or less end up being over 4 hours as a result of the commercials. It's laughable when you look at the how long the movies are. Who in Gods name would order this?

I don't know what original programing in Canada has to do with it but AMC has proven to be a bust for me.

The free preview for AMC ended on Dec. 31. I don't know which package they added it to. Probably one of the Movies deals. With regard to TCM and TCM HD it is in preview mode for a while yet. I've written to Bell suggesting that this channel should be available as a single channel add-on as well as part of a package. For lovers of the great (and no so great) old movies, TCM is a goldmine. I'll be sorry to lose after the preview but I'm not willing to pay for other channels I'll never or only rarely watch just to get it.

Since they're bumping the price of HD - maybe we'll be able to only pay for HD channels?

I haven't watched anyhting in SD since going HD close to 2 years ago.

Who am I kidding though... it's Bell.

AMC is a prime example of what a paid movie channel should not be. I am very sorry that this type of travesty actually still makes money enough to exist, which speaks very bad of what the US (and obviously, Canadian too) consumer can put up with and even pay for.

They have it in the movies package so the cheapest you could get it is;

Superchannel $16 ($13 if you have 6 or more themes)
TMN $21 ($18 if you have 7 or more themes)

Really not worth it if you only want to watch AMC

You are so right .Whenever I watch a really bad movie on bell I know immediately it is canadian

Strech-o-vision is really a pain in the whatever. Last night the HD channel was showing a streched movie. I then switched to the SD channel to watch it in 4x3. It was streched and letterboxed !
