Well, until we can remotely control the tv with telekinesis, they're the next best thing.

Is somebody forcing you to watch AMC?

AMC is not a premium movie channel. Where I live shaw cable offers it in the tier 3 classic cable package. If AMC was a premium movie channel it would not have commercials.
I am guessing but my guess is that Bell TV will be adding AMC to the more movies Theme Pack once the free preview is over on Dec 31st.

Where I live shaw cable also offers Turner Classic movies as part of the Tier 3Classic Cable Package. When and if Bell TV offers TCM they will be adding it to the More Movies Theme Pack. TCM also has a lot of commercials.

This channel being listed as HD is a joke ! I've checked it quite a few times since it came on and have yet to find anything that I would watch and consider as HD quality. I was expecting at least TMN HD quality.

As far as I know and having watched TCM off and on the last year they don't play commercials. That's the lure of the this channel as well as the older movie selections.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Be able to watch Breaking Bad when season 3 starts in Jan 2010.:) Excellent show, had to d/l the first 2 seasons off the net due to no provider offering AMC in my area.

The reason it WILL be part of the premium movies package is because the CRTC says it must be packaged with either TMN/MC/Super Channel or Family Channel. I think you will find that Shaw and many other like Rogers choose to package it in the same analog tier as Family Channel to add value to the analog channel lineup.

I agree with coffenk. For quite some time many here many were begging Bell to add AMC. I had had AMC when I was a Rogers customer and kept trying to point out its faults in this forum. The grass is not always greener on the other side of fence folks. Now you know.

P.S. Personally I think Turner Classic Movies would have been a better addition.

Surprised to hear this - it's been a fantastic feature for me. Once I know how many commercials a given program is using, it's click the advance (30 sec) that many times and possibly once back (10 sec) to get ahead of the programming resume. I can't see it getting much easier than that - otherwise I'd never be able to stand some of these channels that load up a 1:45 movie into a 3 hour commercial spectacular. I very rarely watch anything live anymore that has commercial breaks.

Showing one of my favourite movies "To Hell and Back" for the umpteenth time on television. Guess this is war day in honour of Rememberance/Veterans Day. A better older one "Sgt York" was on Moviepix HD. Sorry but really cannot see the need for another American HD channel when several Canadian ones are available.

"Is somebody forcing you to watch AMC? "

He is being forced to pay for it. For me, AMC is worth nothing.

Being with Bell for the past two years had made me forget how much I hated AMC on Rogers. Commercials, editing for language/nudity, and terrible PQ. This is supposed to be a "premium" channel? Give me a break. At least Rogers includes it.

The telecline transfer of Christmas Vacation looked like it was done by by chimpanzees that had been drinking. The opening scenes after the credits were shaking so badly. Probably not AMC's fault, but indicative of the product that they are offering.

Really , last time I heard it is on free preview till 18th of january , and even then it will be part of movie channels with no additional cost.

You are not wrong. TCM doesn't have commercials, but they do show promos for upcoming movies between movie times. They never interrupt a movie once it's started.

To each its own but my guess is that you have not been able to compare the quality (in terms of movies shown) between Canadian movie channels and American.

All Canadian movie channels without exception are terrible IMO, I've subscribed to them for the last 7 years and just as I made my mind to cancel them Bell is adding AMC to the same package, I will try AMC for a little while but I doubt that channel alone and the very few good movies shown on MC and HBO Canada will justify the $ they ask for the premium package.

And if the HD version of AMC is streched, I'm cancelling that package within two weeks.

Can't wait to move back closer to the border and pickup some Dish Network or DirectTV.
