Amazon DVD's.

I have pre-ordered a film that is released tomorrow, but will I get it delivered to my house tomorrow? I don't want t have to wait until Monday when it is in all the shops.

(If this is in the wrong forum, please move it to the correct one)
 
You will get an email saying they have dispatched the item... which means it's now in the hanRAB of royal mail to get it to you.

They usually dispatch on the day of release.
 
They dispatch as soon as they receive stock themselves apparantly, so you could have received it today in theory, but as you have not yet got the email I am guessing friday or saturday are your best bets!
 
In my experiences with Amazon, they usually disptach so it *should* arrive on the day of release.

Play.com and PlayUSA.com do similar, based on the average times, on the odd occasion they turn up a day or two early.

That's why I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean last night, now Kiera Knightley ! she could shiver my timbers !
 
Generally I have found that Amazon are terrible in getting my orders to me on the day of release (in fact never in over 3 years) whilst Play.com and PlayUSA.com have both delivered on the day of release and sometimes before the official release date (such as with my Family Guy Season 2 DVD) :D
 
What's your problem with having to have it before the shops have it?

They can only send a film to you when it has it's release date, so that could mean it arrives on the day of relase in the shops or the days after (unless the distributors says otherwise) , what's the big fuss? :confused:
 
One of the 'promises' of the latest internet buinesses is that you can be watching the latest DVRAB or Videos without even having to leave your home.
This of course is leaRAB to annoyance when it's nearly a week after the release date, everyone is saying the DVD is great and are discussing bonus features (both in r/l and online) you've seen copies in the windows of local merchants and yet you still haven't got your copy! :mad:
Worse still is when you've pre-ordered up to a month in advance and you then receive a message telling you that they have run out of stock on the day of release :eek: :mad: :(
 
I sent a cheque last Saturday for the Home Alone 1-4 DVD Boxset and it still hasnt arrived. Amazon usually dispatch 2 days after I send the cheque so I hope my cheque has not got lost in the post!
 
I did choose Super Saver, but I have just been on the website and changed it to first class. The website is listing it as not dispatched yet, so I doubt I'll be getting it on Monday either way.

Interestingly enough, not I have selected first class, I am told that the dispatch estimate is Dec 11, 2003 - Dec 18, 2003, and the delivery estimate is Dec 12, 2003 - Dec 20, 2003.

When it was super saver, the dispatch estimate was Dec 14, 2003 - Dec 21, 2003 and the delivery estimate was Dec 15, 2003 - Dec 23, 2003.

EDIT - Just checked Play.com and they have the DVD is stock and ready to order - not pre-order...

Just got an e-mail from Amazon.co.uk saying my order was dispatched this morning 1st class! Should get it tomorrow then...!

HELP! I recently decided to order a DVD Boxset from Amazon. They never had it in stock so I decided to order it 'New' from another seller. While ordering I discovered that I cannot pay by cheque! Do all sellers do this?!?
