Am I weird for liking the Kinks but not the Beatles?

i was talking to a friend today and she said something that hit a nerve: How can you like the Kinks better than Beatles when both bands sounds pretty similar? I even gave the beatles a short listen
just to realize that yes they sound similar... Thoughts anyone?
