Japanese 600s and 1000s have similar difference in the ergos even though the bikes are very similar. The reason I've heard has to do with the difference in power outputs and riding styles. The bigger bore bikes put more weight up front to keep it down I'm sure the 848/1098 are no different.

where they distribute the wait has nothing to do with the ergo's of the bike or the fact the dimensions are the same between both bikes.

Then can you explain the reason for the difference? I'm curious why they are different.

honestly I couldnt tell you why the manufactures might do that. Im not going to sit here and lie. lol But seems perfectly logical from the statment you made in your previous post. In any case, If you have an R1 and then put an R6 engine in it the ergos of the R1 are going to be the same, just a smaller engine. Same difference with the 1098/848
