Am I the only one who thinks it's creepy when....

You think I'm creepy?

Because I think some animated women are attractive?

But you know what?

I have a girlfriend and I'll still like animated women from time to time.
But.. I guess it won't matter... I'll still be creepy, not that it's a problem either.
Well, Romperstoomper out.

I mean, you have magazines like Maxim and what not creating lists of the hottest cartoon babes, so the stigma isn't as there as it used to be. But when it gets to some kind of weird fantasy thing, then yeah. I have no problem admitting there are many comic book heroines that I think are hot in general. But the fact that most chicks are drawn by dudes does make you want some brain bleach at times.

Personally, it's not a big deal. It's only a problem once you think these fictional characters are REAL. And when I say REAL, I mean flesh and blood REAL.
Though, the only way, maybe, you can bring these fictional characters into the REAL world is by...Cosplaying?

But in all, I really have no problem with it. And plus, don't tell me there's hasn't been any fictional character that "Click" on to you. Cartoon, comic, games?
(Jessica Rabbit maybe...? Chun Li maybe....? Wonder Women maybe...? lol)

I don't really find it creepy, but I do find it weird.

Especially when people actually think anime characters are sexy. We're talking about cartoon characters on a screen with massive oversized boobs that are just so big the women shouldn't even be able to hold themselves up in reality. And people are actually turned on by that? I don't understand it. Not that I understand how boobs are attractive in the first place, but people finding them hot on anime characters is just much more far out there to me.

I don't have a problem with people finding animated characters hot in and of itself (heck, there are a bunch I'd consider good-looking...Aladdin,Tarzan,Naveen,Renji,Iruka,Axel,Uryu for example)...

Though I do consider it creepy when people talk like they actually want to be with them, act possessive of them, say they want to have their children,etc....There's a big difference between fantasy and reality, and sometimes I wonder if these fanboys/fangirls understand that....

Well, yeah. It's not weird that it exists, but it is strange at how it has effectively "taken over" (so to speak) pretty much a whole market on basically nothing but sex appeal. So would that make the whole market "creepy"? I think it needs a bit more of a classification than that, honestly.

I'm not actually sure if it could happen here, given the whole cartoons are for kids stigma that still persists, but I wonder if it did would threads like this still exist?

Another interesting side of the whole thing.

Now not all anime girls are portrayed that way, but what makes the anime/hentai aspect of it more weird is that some of these girls with massive sized breasts are no older than 14 sometimes and in middle school. And then I know of many guys who have...relieved themselves with an image of said anime girl in mind. Maybe it's because I'm a girl, I don't know, but it's just odd to me. Any guys feels like putting in some input on that?

Now, there are many anime characters that I do find attractive (Inuyasha, Itachi, Ichigo, Ashitaka, and Haru to name a few) but I don't ever imagine myself with them in a relationship, because I wouldn't want my real life boyfriend to just be placeholder or an image of an animated character. I just like pairing those attractive guys with other girls already in their respective shows (fanfic writers do that a lot ;))

I can understand you might get that idea. When I first did this thread, I noticed yours and assumed it was to comment on how well animated some shows and moives were. I had no idea that it was meant to also comment on the attractiveness of some characters. But again, I understand and I apologize.

While attractive characters are good to look at, I have never developed a cartoon crush.

On the Codename: Kids Next Door fan forum, for example, there are these crazy fangirls who say things like "I'd totally date/marry (insert character here)! (Character)'s so hot/cute!" That's just plain bizzarre. They're just little ink and paint drawings and do not exist!

Then there are these artists on DeviantArt who seem to sexualize any character--whether the character is in a kid's show or otherwise.

No more creepy than some of the things other people do. Part of the reason we invest in the stories because we find the characters attractive, yes? I think people find characters attractive because they're supposed to represent an ideal, a deep desire, or just look downright appealing. The "real world" can be quite disappointing, and what we read/see clicks with us somehow. Maybe there are other levels of "reality" that most people don't consider. Said character is real at least on a metaphorical/archetype level, and that's just as real for some people. Nothing wrong with that, so long as one remembers that what applies "there" doesn't necessarily (read: not often) apply "here".

As long as it's not something along the lines of "I wanna have Edward's babies!" then it's okay.
