Am I Phone Whore???

Seriously lol I simply CANNOT stop buying phones and I think I need a support group seriously, it seems that my passion and my obession is the next great piece of mobil technology and I simply HAVE GOT to own it. It all started with the Sprint A900 Blade phone that i paid $449 for, from there it spread to the original iphone Edge edition. This was the FIRST piece of anything that I took off work for, waited in line 12 hours in the hot Georgia sun, and paid $599.99 plus a $200 dollar deposit for. Then I purchased an Iphone 3G, got bored with it, brought a blackberry bold for $549.99, basically gave that away for like 20 bucks to a friend, went back to the iphone, then obessed over the Palm Pre to the point where I went back to sprint (after SWEARING i'd never be with them again) and got it first day, waiting in line for about 2 hours before the store opened so I was first, gave that away to a friend and now I currently have the HTC Hero (which Sprint cut me a deal on, got it for new customer pricing) and am OBSESSING over the Moto Droid. Its like a drug for me, I've just GOT to have it and I dont care HOW MUCH my deposit is or anything. I've just got to have the phone...

So am I a Phone Whore????

Simple answer. Yes you are.

I have the sam problem. Have a iPhone 3G but have been obsessing over the Palm pre and bb 9700. Now that I see the DROID I am even considering going back to vzw when like you, I swore I would never go back to vzw. Crazy times with all these great phones coming out. Why did you get rid of the Pre? I played with the pre and the Hero at sprint the other day and the pre just seemed so much more interesting and fresh. As I type this the Droid commercial just ran LOL. There's NO ESCAPE!!!

no, youre alright. as long as you can afford the addiction. its not like youre spending your rent money... are you? just kidding.

Man... Like I said I just GOTTA have the newest thing, like its a straight up addiction. I was VERY satisfied with My Pre except for a few complaints:

1. The physical keyboard was very cramped and I didnt like having to go from landscape to portrait JUST to type in a website address or send a text. The fact of no onscreen keyboard annoyed me to no end

2. 8GB of space was down right offensive to me after having filled up my 16gb iPhone 3G to the brim with music, I was VERY much considering cancelling AT&T and having the Pre as my primary device but I COULDN'T give up for the lack of storage space..

3. My Pre was down right atrocious at keeping a signal in my home. I'd have to leave my house and sit on the porch just to carry a conversation.

Web OS is a very nice, speedy system and the Pre all in all was phenominal but with those greivances and the lack of quality apps I just HAD to jump to the newest shiniest toy and that was the Hero, with its expandable memory, 5 megapixel cam, and ability to see flash videos I just HAD to have it. Its a great phone but now that I've been lurking in the Droid thread the past two weeks I've been been hit by the longing again. That NEED to have the newest and greatest at whatver cost. The faster processor, the camera WITH led flash, the 3.7 inch screen, its just turning me on to a point where I know my wallet is quaking in fear.....

with sprint i have the $69.99 450 everything plan, now that its unlimited talk to cellular its all i need.

With the iPhone i have the 900 minute with unlimited texting. However, i am about to cancel with At&t as im sick and tired of paying so much per month..

If i get the Droid i'll probabaly pass off my Hero to a friend or something, i'll miss the cheaper plans but for me its ALWAYS been about the hardware, not the phone plans..

You may be a phone whore but you ain't cheap baby! :buddies: I make the same vows not to pick up/look at another phone, mp3/video player and the like. After seeing this thread, I don't think I have a problem anymore-I think folks on HoFo are simply gadget enthusiasts!

I mean, it's normal to have night sweats right?

EDIT-I would have an iPhone but that plan would kill me. I have 4 phones on Tmo and pay less for all!

You're not a whore, you're just curious!

As long as you're not running around break things to get the money for the phones, I think you're fine(and resell some of the older ones if you can part with them)

LOL yeah I'm pretty much sold on the Droid now, the ONLY issue that I have is that in all the videos I've seen it seems as if the browser doesnt support Pinch/zoom. ALL of my touchscreen phones have supported pinch to zoom in the browser, my Hero can do it powered by android 1.5 (although not at all elegantly) and I cant for the LIFE of me see how Verizons flagship android 2.0 packing Droid couldnt support this feature...

Ah well, Im still 90% that 'll have it by end of November so looks like I'm jumoing my unloyal self into bed with Verizon....

You are a phone whore compared to an average person.. but compared to most HoFo'ers you are just getting started :P I'm also a phone whore (and I mean really) and currently own 8 phones. It started with my addiction to jap phones and then I just started buying all the new smartphones. I have all variants of the N95, N82, tried the Tube, 903SH in all colours, bought the iPhone 3 times (since I got bored, then went back to it, got bored again... etc), owned the iPhone 3G for a little bit, Luna, 8801, Storm, Bold, Touch Diamond, and most recently the N97. Some phones I sold back so I can buy the next phone but most are currently sitting pretty on my desk. I'm one of those guys who can't let go of his belongings even if he no longer uses them.. lmao

Welcome to the group man!! We understand your predicament and share it too lol!! I have a worse ( $$$ wise ) one... CARS!! :hehehe:

Man...your friends are making out! Seriously you sould ebay those phones you don't want or trade them. I feel your pain on spending/going crazy over new phones. As of november 9 when fedex drops off my Droid I will have owned 26 different phones on verizon alone in the last five years. Needless to say my wife does not approve.
I have vowed this is the last one for at least a year but you never know when that itch will kick in.

Hmm, well ive had about 65 phones in 4 years, but I don't think I have as much of a problem as the OP, lol. I buy low, sell high, so I always break even or make money on a phone. I couldnt afford to lose money everytime. That being sai, I rarely buy anything right at launch. Typically a month or 2 after, and have no problem with used if it's in mint shape. lol

oh thank goodness i thought i had serious problem for a min there after 5 phones this year !!! i feel so much better lol . you sir have a serious problem though . you may need therapy ..... or a new droid...
