I'm 22 years old. I was just talking to my girlfriend tonight who is away on business for the week. She is a part of a leadership program at her work that trains people to become managers at different locations in the country. She works for a pretty big company and has an engineering bachelors degree along with the others in the program.
Anyways, being an engineer, she is one of 2 girls in the program (around 12 total). I guess they were all hanging out in the hotel room and one of the guys started talking about going to a strip club in las vegas for a trip he is planning at one point. The conversation continued to a little bit of talk about what he does with his girlfriend. I guess she said that 5 or 6 of these guys participate in conversations like this. Eventually they asked her to come... she said "ahhh no" they replied "Bring your boyfriend... itll be fun"... Im not totally naive, Ive worked in a factory, I know how some guys talk, but I never could imagine them talking like that with a girl around. I know that some guys talk about their sex because they want to impress (maybe they have their own insecurities there
) but I still couldnt imagine talking like that with a girl around... particularly one you know only on a professional level... I mean they are going to be managers
She also said that these people go out drinking before work the next day and will come in tired, FALL ASSLEEP in meetings and text/go on their computers. Her boss has said things to her about the other people... I just feel like its sooo crazy... these people are making 60,000 a year and will only make more in the future...
I hate to say it but its got me kinda bummed about society in general right now... Am I really old fashioned or is there something wrong here? am i out of touch?
