Am I missing something - Nokia N900?

I have a new Nokia N900, and I am baffled as to why it costs so much (I did NOT buy mine). So far as I can see, yea, the internet is pretty good, but other than that it seems somewhat lacking... Not as many settings, profiles, no MMS, etc etc. Am I missing something?
