Am I fit to be known as a writer or an author if I dictate my works to an assistent?

Some literary experts disqualify some spiritual gurus as 'writers' for they improvise. Such extempore discourses later published in book form and go on to become bestsellers. What is the logic behind such discrimination ?

By their logic if someone gets his manuscript typed by a typist, instead of typing or writing himself, he is not recognized as a genuine writer.

Is that so?
 
If you feel in your heart that you are born to be a writer than you are one don't let anyone tell you can't be a writer.Now is that true?Do you believe that?????????????
 
Well to a sense, you wouldn't be a writer, but you would be an author. But...I don't know how to explain it: let me get my dictionary.

Writer: one who writes, esp. as an occupation or profession; author

author: 1. the origainal writer of a literary work; one who practices writeng as a profession
2. an originator or creator

So you wouldn't be doing the act of writing, but the act of creating. Congratulations, you've confused me. Kudos to you if you can understand my ramblings.
