Am I allowed to take a handgun hiking?

I am from Florida, hiking in Georgia.

My grandfather who has passed away left me with a couple of guns in his will. These guns are not currently registered to me.

Am I allowed to take a handgun for personal safety purposes hiking with me? Let alone a different state.

I do not have a concealed weapons permit.

If so, how should I transport the gun? (Again, no concealed weapons permit) And since we are on the subject of these particular guns, what are my rights as far as carrying one in my vehicle going forward?

Thanks!

Have no idea about Georgia, but I carry my pistol in a holster on my hip when hiking the mountains here in Colorado. Absolutely legal.

Don't conceal it without the right permit, that would be illegal.
