Always hungry

I've been feeling like this for a few months and thought I would ask if anyone knew what my symptoms are. I have an appointment with a doctor (I'm a new patient there), but my appointment isn't until mid-January bc I'm not deathly ill and they are only seeing people who are extremely ill with the flu, strep throat, ect and I don't trust going to a walk-in clinic since I've had bad experiences there.

Anywho, I am constantly hungry and it's usually worse in the morning and early afternoon. I literally have to eat within 30 minutes of waking up or I feel extremely shaky and weak. I have no idea how many calories I consume in a day but it's a lot . For breakfast I usually eat a bowl of cereal, a banana, a full glass of OJ, and a Jimmy Deal egg breakfast sandwich and not even two hours later I'm starving. I eat protein at every meal since it helps fill me up better than carbs. I also don't drink a lot of soda and primarily have juices, milk, or drink vitamin waters.

I've always had a pretty fast metabolism but the past few months it's been really bad where if I don't snack every 2-3 hours I get jittery, my hands will shake, and I feel off. I'm 5'3, 120 lbs so I'm not over or underweight for my size and I haven't felt fatigued or anything like that. It's just frustrating to feel like this and of course a blood exam would help diagnose me but I have to wait until January.

Anyone had similar symptoms?

Yes I know the feeling, I had the same symptoms and many more. I was diagnosed with Graves disease ( overactive thyroid). It might be worth your while having your thyroid levels checked. All the best.

Hi, GLS . . . it could also be hypoglycemia. I was diagnosed at 16 and am 51 now. Mine is completely controlled by diet. I get the symptoms you describe if I wait too long between meals. Five or six small meals a day with protein at the beginning of the day is best for people who have this.

It is diagnosed with blood sugar testing and a history of symptoms at a doctor office.

In addition to the possible thyroid problem Vh mentioned, you should also get checked for that.

Let us know how it goes!
