I would be very interested if ANYONE out there has a soulution for this problem. My son also has acid reflux and GERD. he is on Zegerid which has helped somewhat, but the constant Nausea is completely unbearable for him! It is non-stop 24-7. And nothing we have done has helped. We have made his bed higher at the head of the bed, we have given him honey and Apple Cider Vinegar, He has tried every over the counter med, like Pepto, Mylanta, Emersol, etc. Nothing has worked. He has a very hard time going to school because it is always horrible first thing in the morning. Please help!!

Hi, Im so glad Ive found this forum!

I have a major problem that is affecting my whole life and everything I do.

I am a 22 year old male and have had this constant sickness and nausea for over 4 years now. Ever since I have had a baby Ive always been a "sicky" but the last 4 years have been horrendous. Im constantly being sick or feeling sick. It feels like my throat is closing sometimes and Im just heaving all the time. Its ruined my life!! I have lost a few girlfrienRAB over this because we can't even go out with out me being sick.]

Anxiety and nerves make it a lot worse but they seemto trigger it, but there not the cause as I have this 24/7 and Im not a nervous person.

I have had a gasto tube in to my stomach and it revealed GERD as my eusphogus was raw and red, but the Proton Pump Inhibitor tablets or the other acid tablets do NOTHING to stop the nausea, sickness. I just feel full all the time and bloated, and when Im not bloated my throat feels really tight and I can't even talk

Im visiting my local hospital specalist but he seems to be baffled and can oly tell me that they may never fix this that I cant deal with as all my frienRAB are out enjoying themselves and I feel like a burden to everyone.

Please help me. Ive also had thyroid and numerous blood tests and all came back normal

Also I did drink quite a lot and Ive stopped that and I did smoke but Ive stopped that but neither have improved the condition

I woke up with a stomach ache from reflux this morning. That's when I know it's bad. I wish I had slept propped up last night. It's always worse in the morning. I have been eating my meals way too late the last couple of nights. Thats part of it. Eat meals early and then maybe a small snack later. See if that helps him. It's so bad feeling this way. I am hoping it will pass. I just had some yogurt with granola and water. Then having some Tums or tablets from the health food store. Poor baby. I hope he can find some relief.

So the latest is my son's Dr. wants to put him on Lexapro for nausea! ??? Is that right? Doesn't make sense to me. Lexapro is for Depression and I hear that one of the side effects of it is NAUSEA. Other than that, the Dr. simply says my son has to just go to school and suffer. That's it!! I am at my wits end with this. It just isn't right that a child just has to suffer day in and day out with constant nausea!

I am guessing the doctor is stumped and has decided to try Lexapro to see if that calms him down to eliminate the problem. I would look into something more natural, such as St Johns Wort, just let your Doc know you want to try that instead.

Has your son had a gastric emptying study, it determines if the food moves along correctly, if abnormally slow, that can cause nausea and vomiting. There are medications that help speed things along.

Other thoughts would be to look into food allergies, that is a common culprit. Or maybe he has overly abundant yeast overgrowth. Dr. Sherry Rogers Heartburn book offers insight to those explanations and what you should do.

My cousin grew up with similar issues, although not fun, she did grow out of the worst of it.

Yes he did have the gastric emptying study, which came out normal. I will check out that book though. Thanks!

The problem may be too much acid! I had your same problems as well but taking HCL or Betaine HCL helps the problem. The symptoms you are experiencing is not caused by stomach acid, but lack of stomach acid... I recommend you do some research on stomach acid and what it does for you! Gl

It is funny you mentioned that, Benadryl, a friend of mine who is a nurse mentioned that to me. I have not tried that yet, but I will. It might help him sleep better too, since he usually does not sleep well. Thanks so much!

im not a really good help on this board o.O but i think i have acid reflux too. Not as bad, your condition seems to really suck, and im sorry you have to go through that.... Summer of 07 *i think maybe 06* i was like throwing up EVERY night, and ( i dont know if you're on any medicine) but the doctor dude at Children's hospital put me on Prevacid to take daily, and this medicine called "Zofran" for if i felt nautious i could take it and it might take that feeling away. you can take zofran every 4 hours, and if you feel like you'll ruin the time out with people, it might help.

then again, i don't know if that stuff would work for you since you're a much more sever case. but since i've been on the prevacid and zofran, i haven't thrown up for a year and a half!! maybe you should ask a doctor about these and see if he/she thinks they might help you out?

Hi Mocha I would steer clear of antidepressants. Expecially with children. I get angry with doctors who use those so freely. You are wise in not doing this. My advice is to try the natural route. Talk to someone at a healthfood store. They have great advice. And secondly have you thought about a dose of Benadryl? Believe it or not Benadryl is great for many thing, aside for allergies it does help with nausea. Give it a try! Good luck! I hope he feels better soon.

Well, I have been trying two things over the past couple of weeks. First, I have been using Benadryl, and I went to the health food store here in my area, and bought alkaline water drops, almond milk, and have been putting my son on an alkaline diet. Believe it or not it has already made a difference! Of which I am shocked. But I am very happy that my son finally has a bit of relief. And I plan on staying with this, for a long time.He will continue on the Zegerid for a while, but maybe, in time he will be able to go off of that as well!

Lacey did they ever tell you that the throwing up every night was cause of the GERD? I was recently diagonosed with gerd but this summer i was horribly sick for about 2 months and then just common cold symptoms for the next month or two. They think i had pnemonia but they didnt xray until after so they dont know for sure. They gave me nothing for my throwing up. I am still curious as to why that was.

I am currently on Nexium, a proton pump inhibitor.

Im just sick of being sick, I cant even keep a meal down :(
