Alvin and the Chipmunks Live-Action Movie

No poop joke is ever funny. EVER.

Now that I've seen the trailer. It's not as bad as I thought it'd be, and I'm glad that the chipmunks sound like...The Chipmunks.

So those costumes that everybody made a big deal about were just a one-time joke, huh... Phew.

It still looks pretty bad, and the designs are weird, but at least the voices are the same. As the teaser poster demonstrated, it could've been a lot worse. What I'm curious about now is, what will the actual plot be?

Sure, the movie is sure to be God-awful, but since Tie-ins are par for the course for movies like this, let's hope something constructive comes out of this (i.e. DVD box sets for The Alvin Show and Alvin and the Chipmunks)

The Chipmunk live action movie is proof that some things can only work in the realm of traditional animation. In the cartoons, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore were cute. But they just look freaky in that poster (like some horrible taxidermy project or something). And are these new chipmunks going to be normal chipmunk size, or are they going to be human size? And why make them ghetto? Why!? :(

Are you kidding? I hope Jem stays obscure! Think about it. If Jem were remade today, it would most likely be turned into a Hannah Montana clone in order to appeal to the Disney Channel crowd (?cause, you know, young girls are incapable of relating to a character who isn?t within their age group ).

Now, if you'll excuse me. After seeing that poster, I need to go watch the good Chipmunk movie from the 80's to cheer myself up (it's on DVD now. YAY!) :D

I may be in the minority here, but I'm actually glad that the movie's producers are rendering the Chipmunks as actual chipmunk size. I never understood how Alvin, Simon and Theodore got so big on the TV shows, and I don't think I'd want to see CG rendered chipmunks the size of human children. Now that's scary!

Alvin and the Chipmunks is something that just does not translate well to live action. The original characters looked nothing like real chipmunks. To translate them to live action faithfully would make them look hideous, but do do it as they've done here and make them photorealistic anthropomorphic chipmunks and it looks too far away from the original characters. I won't even get into the absurdity ofdressing them in gangster garb.

I don't know, the poop joke is kinda funny. After seeing this and the poster, I think the chipmunks may be planing a comeback and might try new looks to appeal to a new generation.

They're chipmunks, and I imagine their size in the cartoon was just a stylized choice. On the original album cover, they looked like normal chipmunks in clothes, so I guess they're going for the "true" original look, not the cartoon look.

Actually, before the cartoons the Chipmunks appeared in a comic where they were closer to real chipmunks in design. I'd post a picture, but I can't find one...

You know, wasn't the very first verson of the Chipmunks small puppets. I remember a Black and white clip of Dave and the chipmunks as puppets so this movie is mostly likely based on that verson and not the cartons where they were human sized.
