Alvin And The Chipmunks 2 sold out at my cinema

When I went to see Sherlock Holmes at my local Vue Cinema today, there was people queing out of the building for tickets, and when I was going into the screen showing what I went to see, there was an announcment that Alvin 2 was full and no more tickets were being sold. The next showing was 2 hours later.

I've never seen this happen before, has anyone else?

I work in a cinema and this week is our busiest week of the year, every single film was selling out.

I've seen sellouts and people queuing outside, yes. Not very often though.

Last time I went to the cinema was on Christmas Eve and it was VERY busy then.

The longest queue I've seen at our cinema was going from the box office, through two zig zag barrier things, across the foyer, out of the door and about 50 metres up the entrance to the cinema. Any further and it would've been going into a main road! Can't honestly remember what film it was though, possibly Transformers or around that time.

Blair Witch Project was sold out when we went to see it (although it was Hallowe'en)
