Cabling is not my end of the business, so I was even suprised at all the cabling that goes into such a large bldg. I'm back now BTW. They have all the walls up and a lot of the 4x4 is routed. I was checking all the wiring closets as they call them, they're actually full size telecom rooms. 2 per floor (on all but 5 floors) on a 50 floor structure. We are supplying them with all the networking and telecom racks, patch-panels, jacks wall plates, copper/fiber-optic cable, including patchcords. By far the largest venture i've personally been involved in. over 100,000 patch cords total copper and fiber.
I wish we could have provided all their cisco routers and switches, but they have all their own CCIE's so they're a cisco Gold partner, which means that they can buy direct from cisco at a huge discount. Each of the 10 networking racks in each telecom room has a cisco catalyst 6500 series switches, with all their card slots packed. Fuck, with that config, it's like a $35,000 switch. assuming they all have the same config that's like what? almost $35 million, just in ethernet switching alone. Holy Crap! wish one of those would fall off a truck.
