Alpine Type R Subwoofers?

Well I've seen these subs on youtube with 1 12" Alpine type R and 500 watt rms some guy could get serious windsheild flex.. this lead to me thinking these woofers most be very good! So well.. whats your opinion about them? good Spl and SQ? Im thinking about getting two 4ohm DVC's to wire em down to a 1ohm 1Kw Amplifier in a ported box tuned to 42Hz. Will this setup be good?
