Allergy shot questions

I recently started allergy shots, and I had my second one today. I was wondering... If I'm going to have systemic reactions, what is the general timeline of them? Obviously, I stay 20 min after I get the shot, but I was wondering if it was possible to get systemic reactions several hours later.

As you can guess, I'm slightly worried about having bad side effects.
 
While it certainly is possible. They usually start to manifest themselves within 5-10 minutes if they are going to be major. If it concerns you that much, check with your physician about taking an antihistamine the morning of your shots to decrease the likelihood of a reaction. I always did that.
 
I only ask because since I had the first shot, I've felt like i need to take a deep breath at, but can't.

I've never been diagnosed with asthma, but a proair inhaler does help. I've had this problem on and off for several years now, so most of me thinks it's completely unrelated to the shots. I had this happen around the same time last year (i think it's the dry cold air.. i live in chicago). part of me also thinks it's mental, because sometimes i can breathe completely fine, and then I start thinking about it and then it happens.
 
Well, a trip to the pulmonologist for asthma testing should be able to determine whther or not you have asthma. Then you'd know one way or another.
 
Do you carry an Epi-pen? If not, you should request a prescription for one. They require me to show mine when I get my shots.
 
I don't have an epi pen... i've never really felt the need to get one.

I feel much better today and yesterday. I think it was the dry air in my house. I fixed my humidifier and it's gotten much better.

The only real problem I have right now is that the local reaction at the site of injection is pretty red/itchy/hot. I've been using hydryocortisone cream on it and I took a benadryl last night. I also have been icing it today. any other things I should be doing?
