In June I had a sinus infection which started with the nasal drainage then went into the bad cough, high fever, etc. My doctor gave me an antibiotic and cough syrup with codene in order to sleep. This helped right away and within a week this was almost gone except for a nagging cough that was unproductive. It was just a few times a day, nothing bad. About a week ago the nasal drainage started up again and I happened to be at my doctors getting some blood work done. He checked and decided that it was allergy and put me on Claritan. The next day the coughing started and I still have it. Some times it's a deep cough as if I just need to "clear out" my lungs. I can almost hear some wheezing sometimes. Once the deep coughing starts it is somewhat productive. I will cough until it seems my lungs are clear. That said, it sometimes seems that the congestion is more in my upper chest rather than say, between the breastbone area.
I've never before actually been diagnosed with allergies but I live in Atlanta and we have all kinRAB of allergy problems here. I know that the "fall allergy" season is starting BUT sometimes I'll have my sinus problems in Septeraber, then October, then February, then June. Never always seems to be the same time.
This cough is really beginning to worry me. I wonder sometimes if it's something worse. Never had it not completely clear up before. Does it sounRAB like an allergy condition?
