Allergy and Rhinitis

Probably as a result of suffering from DVT and then stress and some depression due to a bereavement, I experienced, for the first time, an allergy to feathers and my cat. I now also suffer from Rhinitis.

Is it these allergies that make my food tasteless? Until the allergy was diagnosed all my food tasted like cat food. Although I am starting to enjoy my food a little more now now - most of the tastes are wrong/different or unpleasant. Is it the Rhinitis that has this effect on my sense of taste?

Having disposed of feather duvets and pillows and rehomed my cat I generally avoid the detergents etc that make the rhinitis worse. However, I am now also affected by dust. At least I presume it is dust that I inhale as I sleep which makes my throat sore and puffy as it is always worst when I wake up. My throat and eyes are also affected in the evening when dust rises in the warmth of my flat.

I have bought dust masks (probably meant for builders) but either they move while I am asleep or they are uncomfortable but they do not seem to help very much. Where can I get a mask of some kind that will remain in place while I sleep? Please help.
