Does anyone experience bad headaches when their allergies are bad?

I've been having these bad sinus pressure headaches. And I know I am not infected because I do not have abnormal mucous or a fever of any sort.

Im just sick of these headaches! I did start allergy shots three weeks ago... do I need to up my anti-histamine intake during the beginning of allergy shots?
I take Allegra, Flovent, and Benadryl at night. Should I take more Benadryl when I am having these headaches?

I also do sinus rinses three times a day.

Does anyone have any other allergy related headache remedies?

I am sorry to hear about this! I am prone to migraines, but I will also get the sinus headaches since I tend to get sinus allergies quite often. I haven't found the perfect cure, but I just try my best with sinus headache medication, as well as a decongestant. Sometimes I have to take my regular headache medications. With my migraines, drinking caffeine usually helps me feel a bit better, but it's definitely not the same with allergy-related headaches. I've also heard that taking SOME medications regularly can give you headaches as a side effect. I'll definitely let you know if I hear of anything that actually works well!

I also get migraines frequently, but I get this horrible sinus pressure/headache in my ears almost daily at work! I think it is the dust in the building. I try taking advil, but does not help. I don't want to waste my migraine/pain medication on this type of pain. I also take suphredine daily, but I still get this pain in my ears. I am sure it is from the dust at work bc I am perfectly fine, feel great in the morning when I wake up and within minutes of sitting @ my desk, the pain starts again. I really cannot go to another office and work either, so does anyone have any suggestions on what I can take? I also work in a bank vault. I have had ppl tell me it could be the dye on the dollars that give ppl headaches...but i don't come in direct contact with it. I work on the computer.

Hi Carapinay,

I feel sorrow and sorry that you have migraines . It is very dangerous as you find headaches all the time.I know your condition how you feel whole day. Don't try medicines with your own choice , consult special doctor which give you nice precision about medicines. If you find dense headache then try the above medicines. It is really a bad allergy as I am prone to migraines.Try the best sinus headache medicine for that issue.Tell the doctor about the severe pain headaches and ask for allergy remedies.I hope you like my suggestion.

Thanks

Thanks! My migraines are under better control than a few months ago. I do see a specialist and the medication has helped. However, that does not stop the allergies/dust from coming. I will definitely consult him on that as well. Thanks! What allergy medication are you referring to?

Yup, count me in as well. I do tend to get migraines and have other issues with pressure headaches from another conditon but boy when my allergies and sinuses are flared up my headaches just get out of control....

For me Benadryl seems to make them worse??? Maybe dries me up too much? Zyrtec helps the allergies but that gives me a headache as a side effect. I do nasal rinsing a few times a day and take alavert (does not do too much though), decongestants here and there when it is really bad and of course Advil. They hurt so bad, expecially when you change positions and your head feels like it is going to explode..

One thing that does help to get my nasal congestion down is Nurtribiotic Nose Spray - no side effects and really clears things up - for a little while anyway..

My headaches are not near as bad or frequent as they used to be, but I get 5 allergy shots a month--have since early 2001 & will continue for rest of my life. I feel for you & understand how this hurts.

Does anyone here take Zonisamide? I have had a migraine for almost 3 days now, it's slowly getting better with the help of Butal w/ Codeine, but I couldn't get the shot of phernegan bc I drove myself to my neurologist. I was taking Verapamil and thought I was doing better (less-frequent headaches) but the dr said that's just unacceptable. Many of his patients are now headache/migraine-free for a nuraber of years and he is persistent about doing the same for me. I am soooo blessed to have this kind of dr bc anyone else would think the Verapamil was working (as I did). So now, Zonisamide 25 mg 3x a day for the first week, then 100mg twice a day after that. I am curious if anyone is having luck with the Zonisamide? Maxalt also does not work for me anymore, I don't know why he gave me more.
