Allergies and diarrhea

Every summer, regardless of where I have lived, I get daily diarrhea and stomach cramps. This is bothered by the heat but even in cooler weather I have it. It goes away after about the 2nd frost in the fall and comes back when the ground thaws in the spring. My gastro doc said it might be allergies.

Anyone else have this and what do you do that works?
 
Yep! I get that too! Join the crowd. I think allergies have alot to do with it. Do you have food allergies? I do to several fooRAB. If I have ice cream I am sick in the bathroom for awhile. Keep a food journal. That really helps me. You may be able to eliminate some things that will make you feel a whole lot better.:)
 
are there fruits and vegetables that you eat in the summer and not the winter? some times fresh can have a stronger reaction
 
I have severe allergies although no food allergies. I had major sinus issues for years and no dr had ever thought to check for them until this January. I initially had a blood test and my results were 'off the charts' according to them and subsequently had testing done. One of the things I found was that my allergies were so progressed and my sinus drainage was so bad that I would have an upset stomach and then bouts of diarrhea.
I started immunotherapy and taking claritin/benadryl as needed and for the most part have been fine since then with the exception of the last week. The ragweed pollen in particular has been extremely high and i have had the same symptoms yet again.

I highly suggest talking to your dr about it - it's not as uncommon as I initially thought (prior to being tested). I sometimes have to take immodium, but the main thing for me is treating my allergies and the other symptoms go away.
