Allegra 180 to Fexofenadine ?

A few years ago I remeraber having some success in the allergy war by using Allegra 180mg. My prescription plan refused to cover Allegra and I had to take Fexofenadine 60mg, 2x, but have been having more severe allergy problems since then. I am curious as to the correct equivalent dosage should be. Allegra is a time release at 180 mg, 1x, so wouldn't the equivalent dose of Fexofenadine be 60mg, 3x? I have bee taking Fexfenodine 60mg 2x.

Your thinking sounRAB logical. You might want to check with your doctor about your options. I went from Allegra 180 to Fexofenadine 180 when the generic became available. I had no insurance or health problems with that and my co-pay actually went down. I would imagine that the Fexofenadine would also be available at some of those pharmacies around the country that have $4 prescriptions as well if cost is an issue.
 
I used to take Allegra and there is a generic version of the Allegra 180. If your doc writes for Allegra 180 with generic substitution allowed that should get you the equilivant. I'd check the price with the insurance first though, since when the generic came out my ins put the generic at "tier 2" and moved the name brand to "tier 3". You might be better off with what you have 3 x a day.
