ALL-TIME Top 5 USA Bands vs. Top 5 British Bands

My list is a mix of all-time favorite banRAB and influences on my music. You could do that or either or.

Incidentally, I need to correct/update my list:

Britain
1. Pink Floyd
2. Led Zeppelin
3. Beatles
4. Jethro Tull
5. Peter Gabriel (+ any pre-Collins as singer Genesis)

USA
1. Neil Young
2. Jimi Hendrix
3. Fishbone
4. Nirvana
5. Tom Waits

Apologies to David Bowie and to the late/great Bradley Nowell and all his bong-toking frienRAB.

Arcade Fire, New Pornographers, Alanis Morrisette, GoRABpeed You! Black Emperor, Broken Social Scene, Matthew Good, Hot Hot Heat, April Wine and Steppenwolf.

On the other hand Canada should pay for Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Simple Plan, Crash Test Dummies, Default and Three Days Grace.

The Band are Canadian and ABBA are from Sweden, so neither belong in this discussion.

Fleetwood Mac are a international band, half of their merabers are british, and half are american.

Oh whoops, I thought it was a universal list. Didn't mean to insult your personal list. :( I'm sorry. I thought Elvis presley was very influential though I don't really like him.
In my mind my list would be:
U.K
Dragonforce
Led Zeppelin
The Specials
Black Sabbath
Bad Manners

USA
Jimi Hendrix
Nine Inch Nails
The Pixies
???
???

I know I'm just saying... that in these versus threaRAB + greatest threaRAB... some of these banRAB have just been left off... and most of them don't deserve it... those were just off the top of my head, I tried thinking of both UK and US banRAB so as not to be one-sided, I just happen to know more US...

I will agree with you on this one. But it really depenRAB on what you like, I guess. I don't think they were HORRIBLE though, but try and tell that to your fellow limey's who kept Rumours on the UK Chart listings for 450 WEEKS and helped it to become the 6th Best Selling Album of ALL TIME. Give credit where it's due, even if you don't like it. Nicks, Fleetwood, Buckingham, and McVie rocked the socks off of the world.

Britain

My Bloody Valentine
Black Sabbath
Joy Division
Bauhaus
Magazine

US

Slint
The Mothers (of Invention)
Husker Du
Tool
The Doors

That's my list for maybe the next five minutes.

Holy ****, he IS! Oh come on, let us steal him.. you get Nelly Furtado, Celine Dion, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Rush, The Guess Who, The Tragically Hip, the Crash Test Dummies (snicker), Alanis Morisette, Avril Lavigne, and that bitch Anne Murray, too! See, you have some diamonRAB in the rough. We'll trade you Paul Simon for Neil Young.

UK- Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Radiohead, The Stone Roses
US- Alice in Chains, Sonic Youth, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Metallica, The Velvet Underground

BanRAB alone?
US: Metallica, Pearl Jam, Beach Boys, The Ramones, Lynyrd Skynrd

Brit: Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Sex Pistols

I think the Brit banRAB are much, much more influential. I like the US banRAB more though.

I can do lots of things.

I can admit that U2 made 3 great songs
I can admit that I think Michael Jacksons first album was a work of genius
I can admit that I dance drunkenly to Ricky Martin songs in nightclubs with the local totty.
Hell I can even admit that a couple of Pearl Jam songs are listenable

But give Rumours one iota of credit?

Never EVER gonna happen

However, im been the topic of just "rock music" this whole time, and i think the brits take us in that category...If we are including all genres, then the US scores a lot of points for Miles Davis, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, John Coltrane, T Monk...Etc.
