All-Time Favorite Scenes in Animation(May Contain Spoilers)

To get some more discussion, I thought that we could just name some of what we consider the greatest scenes to be done in animated history, be it from anywhere. I mean scenes that are much funnier or dramatic then usual, and/or overall quite remember able. Here's some of my picks.

Comedy:

The Ren & Stimpy Show: "Stimpy's Invention"
In history, only the epic dance scene of "What's Opera, Doc?", or the entire "Duck Amuck", could possibly top the notability of the extremely well-crafter Happy Happy Joy Joy. It may of taken over six months to animated, but it wqas sure worth it. John K, you may overrate your series, but "Stimpy's Invention" is a classic, pure and simple. Bravo.

Rocko's Modern Life: "Wacky Delly"
The infamous "Wacky Delly" cartoon short. Possibly both the best and worse of animation.

Family Guy: "PTV"
The FCC song is probably the series finest moment, a shock-filled blast on the censor board. Good enough to be named the second funniest moment in TV history by FOX's list, and well deserved.

Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy: "One Plus One Equals Ed"
Just the entire thing, the Ed's take on physics, is very Jones-esq, and overall just down-right brilliant. At this point, the show proved that it was like no other, and became one of my favorite shows of all time.

Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends: "Frakie My Dear"
Orlando Bloo. Possibly the most quotabley excellent disguise of a character ever made. Just thinking about the scene gives me the giggles.

Animaniacs: "Bumbie's Mom"
Admit it, this nails the Bambi experience for an impressionable little kid like Skippy. You laugh at his despair because you can relate.

Animaniacs: "Yakko's World"
Many of the fans may hate the preachy little songs, but you gotta give credit for the hard work that went into this one. The writing staff must of pulled an all-nighter rhyming all of the nations together, and even adding jokes in!

Futurama: "Jurassic Bark"
If you didn't cry at the end of this episode, you're a heartless jerk.

Drawn Together: "Hot Tub"
"Black Chick's Tongue", a classic parody of the ever beloved "Whole New World", shoves it right up Disney's ass. Tara's voice is perfect for Princess Clara, and it was in excellent usage here. The song set up this great-albeit-undeservedly-hated show.

Action:

Danny Phantom: "Phantom Planet"
In a start of a trio of disappointing series finales to high-quality series, one scene remained worthy of excellence: After Jack, a rather naive man, discovers that Vlad, a man he gave all of his hope and inspiration to, enough to help him win the job of mayor, is a half-ghost whose sole desire is to steal Jack's family, he, of course, was devastated. Going to space with him, Jack pushes Vlad out of the ship they're in, a moving motion that's normally unlike the buffoon.

American Dragon: Jake Long: "The Academy"
When the only way to free Rose from this wretched academy is to slay a dragon, Jake attempts to sacrifice himself for the woman she loves. On the way up, he asks for one last thing from her, a kiss. The motion is rather powerful, and best enjoyed to those who've seen everything up to this point. Oh, BTW, Jake didn't really get slayed. Just an FYI.

Americand Draogn: Jake Long: "Dreamscape"
Rose sees her real family is alive and well, and learns something else. I won't spoil any more.

American Dragon: Jake Long: "Homecoming"
I just can't stop talking about that final five or so minutes, so I won't.

I probably have more to add.

Superman: The Animated Series: "Legacy, Part II"
The entire ending, with the epic dual between Supes and Darkseid, and the moving scene of what Dark's people does to him after defeat. Leagues better then Teen Titans could ever wish to be IMO.

BTW, movies count, too. I can probably think of dozens of scenes from The Lion King and Spirited Away I could mention. Maybe I'll add some later. and don't forget to mention why you like said scenes.

My favorite animated scene in movie history would have to be the dueling pianos between Daffy and Donald Duck in Who framed Roger Rabbit!" Nuff said.

The Mickey and Bugs one was cute, but not as much fun.

The scene in Spirited Away where Chihiro takes the train to visit Zeniba. That scene is breathtakingly beautiful and bittersweet (I always imagine that the ghostly people on the train are the souls of the recently departed).

The scene in My Neighbor Totoro where Satsuki and Mei are waiting for their father's bus in the rain. If that scene doesn't convince you that there is something really special in Miayazaki's films, than nothing will.

The opening Scenes of The Iron Giant.

Winsor McKay's animation of Little Nemo in Slumberland.

What's Opera Doc. I love the colors and the '50's design.

All of FLCL. Every second of it.

The dance between Aang and Katara in The Avatar: TLA episode The Headband.

There are plenty of impressive scenes in Futurama, Paranoia Agent and The Venture Brothers as well. And I'll always have a place in my heart for Terry Gilliam's animated segments for Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Some faves of mine...

TV shows.....

South Park...."The Passion of the Jew".....Stan calls up the president of the Mel Gibson Fanclub (who unkown to him,is Cartman) to find out where he lives so he and Kenny can get their money back after seeing(and hating) "The Passion of the Christ"....the boys trade insults for a few minutes before Stan realizes "...wait!....is this Cartman?"....Cartman then quickly hangs up,and then backs away slowly, never taking his eyes off the phone (makes me laugh every time I see it)...

The Simpsons....several parts of the "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" two-parter still make me laugh....including....

Homer spraypainting "My Name Is Homer Simpson" in big letters in Burns' office, only to have Burns come in and say "Who the devil are you?"

Burns stomping on buildings in his model of Springfield..."Take that, Convienience Mart!!!,Take that,Bowl-A-Rama!!!,Take that,...Nuclear Power Plant....oh,fiddlesticks..."

Lisa saying that in most cases,it is the most likely suspect, but the rest of the time,it's some maniac who did it for no reason, and then everyone in the room looks at Homer...

Futurama....the endings to...

Jurassic Bark....Fry's dog Seymour waits for a master who will never come back...still makes me sad every time

The Luck of the Fryish...Fry learns that his brother didn't steal his name,he named his son "Philip" in honor of Fry...I just found it really touching

Leela's Homeworld...Leela finally learns the truth about her parents/origin,and then there's a montage showing how her parents have always looked out for her...another really sweet scene

The Why of Fry....Fry finally gets acknowledged by Leela(she gives him a kiss on the cheek) I think this is the first time she realizes what a great guy he is at heart....I also loved Fry shouting "YES!" over the end credits

The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings....Leela stays to hear the rest of Fry's opera, even though he's lost his musical talent...even though I know there's more Futurama animation on the way,I still would've been happy if this were the end...

Movies....

The Nightmare Before Christmas.....Jack is cutting out a paper snowflake, then does a double-take when he sees the pattern on it is a spider...It makes me smile...

The Lion King....the end scene, where Simba climbs up Pride Rock to take his place as king....I love the music in this scene....

The Emperor's New Groove....Any scene with Kronk and his shoulder angel and devil makes me laugh to this day....esp when it looks like he's talking to himself, and the rest of the cast just looks at each other like "Do you know what he's doing?"...

Several moments in Futurama have made me feel emotions other then happiness, which is great. Especially (like previously stated) Jurassic Bark, which gets me every time at the end. The 'finale' to the show even strikes some warmness in me STILL and I've seen it over 50 times.

Samurai Jack has had a lot of moments where it just wowed me.

Batman Beyond's theme always got me pumped for an awesome episode. Easily one of the best intros I have seen in ages.

The Simpsons, to this day, have still impressed me. Family Guy still makes me laugh all the time, and I'm glad they're getting back on track.

Wonder Showzen's animated segments (thank god for Augenblick) always make me laugh and think. Grade A quality there.

Spiderman meets the Hobgoblin & Venom - Those scenes were great when Spiderman firsts meets his worst major enemies(Spiderman)
Yakko,Wakko, & Dot bashing on the villains - They're scenes were wacky when they drive them bonkers on the scene(Animaniacs)
Babs getting rid of the smokers Roderick & Rubella - That scene was funny when those two rats get bashed for smoking(Tiny Toon Adventures)
Samurai Jack vs. all of his powerful foes - Those battle scenes were brilliant & tremendous(Samurai Jack)
Luann goes boxing - In those good boxing scenes,Luann sure knows how to fight(King of the Hill)
Fry & the gang beating the Lucy Liu robot clones - That scene was hilarious when the robots were bashed in the movie theature(Futurama)

SSJ3 Gotenks/Gohan fighting SuperBuu - Those battle scenes were the next best in the dbz world(Dbz)
Ponygon has his first battle against Dalmoes - That battle scene was the best which Ponygon is strong/fast(Zatch Bell!)
Don Patch goes Super Saiyan - That scene was awesome which Don Patch is the strongest ever(Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo)
the escape scene when Robin kills Spandam - That scene was brilliant when Robin finally crushes that monster for abusing her(One Piece)
coolest opening scenes - I found those opening scenes cool/freaky/realistic(Naruto Shipuuden)

Call it simplistic, maybe it is, but "The Wings of FEAR" from Birdman. The episode is filled with great moments, but on top of everything else, after F.E.A.R. - Birdman's main adversary, always in the shadows, usually pulling someone else's strings, and no, we never learned what it stood for - has finally been defeated, we see the Conference of Peaceful Nations delegates (the show's equivalent to the U.N.) that were kidnapped in that episode together in a helicopter (strangely, the exact same one holding the FEAR agents - they're in the back seat! - but anyway):

"FEAR is finished. My friends, we can now work together for world peace, thanks to..."
"BIIIIIIIRDMAN!"

The quest for world peace was something of a recurring theme during the show's run. FEAR had a great sense of presence throughout the series, and seeing them defeated once and for all like that really brings a genuine sense of closure.

Some of my favorite scenes:

Batman: TAS (Mad as a Hatter)

While "Heart of Ice" was a very tragic episode, one moment that always gets to me as at the end of 'Mad as a Hatter', when the defeated Jarvis Tetch quietly starts to sing the mock-turtle's song as he sees the love of his life run to her boyfriend. The excellent voice-acting and the look of defeat on Tetch's face makes this one of the few scenes, which not only made me feel genuinely sad for a character, but every time I watch that episode I get something in my eye.

Wallace & Gromit (Wrong Trousers)

The entire toytrain-chase scene, not much to say about it, except that it was fun and filled with action. I'd really like to see a new "Wallace & Gromit" short, featuring the return of that larcenous penguin, Feathers McGraw

Cowboy Bebop (Mushroom Samba)

Sure, the series' first battle between Spike and Vicious was great, but I'll have to mention the latter's hallucinations in the Ed-centric episode, "Mushroom Samba". I think it's the frog and Spike's sardonic reaction to it ("obnoxious little frog") that makes this one of my personal favorite scenes.

The Father of the Pride episode with Donkey.

Shrek - Donkey and Dragon falling in love.

Shrek 2 - Donkey transformed into a horse.

Shrek the Third - Donkey and Puss abracadabraed.

:D

The entire "Duck Season, Rabbit Season" Thing form those brilliant Chuck Jones shorts

"What's Opera Doc" a brilliant masterpiece, I especially love the ending!

The Real Ghostbusters : The Collect Call Of Cathullu: This was a brilliant episode. It was a nice change of pace to see a serious ep from this show.

In the first Halloween episode of the Simpsons, in the second segment, when they told Lisa that she was too smart for he own good was brilliant dialog.

This is a tough one. There's so much I want to list..., but here's a shortened version...

TMNT 2k3- Mikey doing a Tarzan yell and thn saying, "What? At least it wasn't Cowabunga!"

The Seasmonster eating Scrooge's ice cream.

Robin (from One Piece) convincing Franky to join the crew.

The Asterix and Cleopatra "le Pudding al Arsenic" sequence (well, the song, anyway)

The nude skateboarding sequence in the Simpsons movie (just for the idea they could show that).

The battle of the Bands between Bullwinkle J Moose and Boris Badenov as the Big Cheese.

The TV Maniacs musical number from Muppet Babies (I want my Muppet TV)

The Genie turnging into Darkwing Duck in that episode of Aladdin

Any time Kinnikuman sang his famous "Gyudon" song....

Doraemon going ape scat after seeing a mouse, and shooting up the entire house to try to kill it...

I can't think of any others.

Beauty and the Beast: The "Beauty and the Beast" song and the dance between the Beast and Belle. Sheer excellence.

The Lion King: Simba's vision of his father and his conversation with the monkey afterwards. I love how the monkey celebrates in pure jubilation after Simba decides to go home.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame: "God bless the outcasts." Great song with visuals that utterly suit the moment. Just perfect.

Mulan: The sequence where Mulan steals her father's armor and leaves the house to join the army. Yet another case of music and animation combining to make a scene feel really epic.

Superman TAS: Dan Turpin's funeral. "In the end, the world didn't need a Superman. Just a brave one."

Cowboy BeBop:

1. The Duel between Spike and Vicious in "Ballad of the Fallen Angels."
2. Spike storming the Red Dragon headquarters while "The Real Folk Blues" plays (Real Folk Blues, part 2). Everyone remembers Spike's death, but that whole scene leading up to it is really something.

Justice League Unlimited:

1. Superman vs. Captain Marvel in "Clash."
2. Superman saying farewell to his son and breaking free of his fantasy in "For the Man Who Has Everything."
3. The Flash going full force & demolishing Brainaic-Luthor. An unexpected and triumphant moment.

One Piece:

1. Luffy recruits Nami ("YOU ARE MY NAKAMA!")
2. Luffy defeating Crocodile
3. Luffy defeating Enel (can't wait to see this dubbed)

And I'd better stop since this list could be absurdly long.

Gundam SEED:

1. Kira & the Freedom Gundam rescues the Archangel during the Alaska invasion. Cue "Meteor," cue mass destruction.
2. Freedom destroys the Providence Gundam with one final blow. For that matter, the whole battle was desperate and awesome.

Gundam SEED Destiny:

1. Battle against the Destroy Gundam.
2. Impulse Gundam vs. the Freedom Gundam.

Gundam Wing:

1. Treize Kushrenada resigns from OZ and protests the Romefeller Foundation's use of mobile dolls.
2. Heero's monologue about the space colonies and their meaning.
3. Gundam Epyon, piloted by Zechs, slices Space Fortress Barge in two. Totally awesome.
4. Treize's conversation with Heero. Always loved how it starts:
"Thanks for coming, Heero Yuy."
"You must be Treize."
"That should be obvious."
5. Treize's death and farewell to Wufei.
6. Heero & Wing Zero destroy the remains of Battleship Libra with one final shot in "The Final Victor," saving the Earth.
7. Duo & Deathscythe vs. Wing Zero (The God of Death meets Zero). Deathscythe vs. Mercurius and Vayeate in one of the final episodes.

Some more later, I don't have time to be thorough.

OK.

-Superman versus the Mad Scientist: It was pretty much the first full-on action cartoon, and its still fun to watch to this day.
-The Great Piggy Bank Robbery: Rob Scribner's expressive animation mixed with a really whacked Dick Tracy parody make this one of the best Looney Tunes.
-"Shoot me now! Shoot me now!": The wabbit hunting twiwogy has tons of clever dialog. This sketch just pushed it into complete comedic absurdity.
-the war machine in The Thief and the Cobbler: Even unfinished, it's some of the most stunning western animation put to screen.
-the first motorcycle chase in Akira: Fluid, fast, and gets across a sense of freedom and excitement few animated films have achieved.
-Marge vs. The Monorail: The funniest Simpsons episode ever IMO. Almost every line is quotable.
-Mr. Freeze's introduction in Batman:TAS: I don't think anyone would have expected this much emotion and tragedy in a superhero cartoon.
-"This is Halloween": Nothing before the Nightmare Before Xmas looked quite like it. The opening song is the best of the bunch, and has some tight direction.
-The Wrong Trousers: Great stop-motion mixed with classic slapstick and a psychotic pengiun equal classic.
-Asuka going all crazy-ass on the EVA Production Models in End of EVA: The last moment of happiness in the EVA series, with plenty of creative violence.
-The Birth of Evil: Every episode of Samurai Jack has had some memorable moments, but they really went for the broke with this epic story.
-The Sting: Futurama is always funny, and this episode is no exception (the "Bee Happy" number is perfect), but with added mystery and bittersweetness.
-the train sequence in Spirited Away: Miyazaki's control of color and dimension ads a level of elegance to an awfully somber moment.
-the black-and-white opening to The Triplets of Belleville: It's pure fun. You can tell it was made by people who love old cartoons and know what made them great.
-the chase on the water (and pretty much everything else) in The Incredibles: The Incredibles is one of those few movies that get as close to perfection as one can get. The chase scene in particular is exhilarating and funny.
-the love-making scene in Mindgame: Highly experimental, graphically emotional, and still with a humorous side, there isn't anything else like it in animation.
-the Flash defeating Brainthor in JLU: An underappreciated character gets his due, kicks ass, and saves the day. If the show ended with this, I'd be satisfied.

here's my list

- Ren and Stimpy's Happy Happy, Joy Joy skit with Ren with that hat on, classic moment for me and easily my all time favorite Ren and Stimpy momen

- Anytime Beavis and Butthead aruge while watching a music video and Butthead starts slapping Beavis or Beavis kicks Butthead in the groin and he turns that bright beet red color, LOL, man all time great for me :p

- Cartman and the parent chilli, of course

- SpongeBob episode where Squidward attempts to blow the huge balloons Spongebob blew but can't, LOL at how his lips look, wow

- Stewie beatng up Brian scenes in Patriot Games.....classic

- Boondocks' last 7 minutes of "The Passion of Reverend Ruckus"...

much more but i cant think of em
