All this talk about camshafts but.....

This is not true. Everybody has their own RPM range ie: where they ride, 2,000 RPM's, 3,000 RPM's etc... You want to keep your bike in the fat part of the torque curve in your normal riding for optimal performance. I don't think I've ever hit my rev limiter and don't plan on it. You want your shift point to match the fat part of the torque curve or just prior to that.

Red Shifts are not for everyone! Your right everyones riding style is different I like my bike too pull hard and rev fast! At 5500rpm the motor is pulling really good with the 575s if you dont like rpm go with brand B.

Need advice
i have been reading lot of posts about cam in this forum, but not sure what cam to choose for my build.
S.E stage II, head done by bighboyz 10:2 compression, supertrapp true duals
with 255 cams,tuned with TTS
bike run great except i can't fix pinging in 2500 rpm and 60 to 80 map when hot.
i removed lot of timing, add acceleration fuel and put in open loop 14:0 afr
i thing 255 cams can be the problem, but not sure between HQ and Wood, i like low torque, no need of very high rpm
thank you

Hey Cruz,
Just a little info. If you have Jamie tune it ( or any competent tuner) you won't need an auto tuner. The tuner should put it dead nuts on or you should find a better tuner. JMHO

I've had both TW6-6 cams and SE 255s in my Ultra Limited with same pipes, pcv, se stage 1 ac....tuned by same tuner on dyno........the TW6 cams made more noise; ran hotter; and had a lot less balls down low; the SE 255s feel stronger throughout the entire power band....the 255s start with a ton of torque and get the bike moving quickly....I don't have to wind the bike out because the cams get the weight of the bike moving as fast as I want to go.....with the TW6-6's I'd rev higher because I was still trying to move the bike......many on here say the se255's fall off at higher rpms.....I didn't find a place in the entire rpm range where I thought the TW6-6 were better than the se 255s in fact quite the opposite.......I was really surprised at how much hotter the engine felt with the tw6-6's over the 255s......both are cooler than stock...but the se255s feel a lot better...

I respect those that are happy with the TW6-6s but they didn't work for me...the peak torque of the two were nearly identical....peak hp the woods had a 2 hp advantage.....but the torque is in a much better place for a heavier bike with the 255's....

Great info! I guess I could have Jamie tune it and add the AT later if I don't feel its perfect.

Now its down to cam choice. The Woods cams sound interesting but also read great reports on the HQ 500 cam. HQ is less than 2hrs from my house too
