okay so i had about 15 fishes and i had them in a 40 or 50 gallon tank.
i had many swordtails, mollies, platys, neon tetra, one algae eater. and i had about 12 baby fishes. soon a whole bunch of fish had billions of white spots all over their body. and i tryed to treat it with some yellow pills that says removes fungus and bacteria. but unfortunaly it didnt work. and i didnt know what to do. i was wondering if i should transfer the fishes to a different one and change the water. right now i actually hhave three survivors :) but i have hope for them. so what should i do to keep them alive

PLEASE HELP!

Your fish had Ich. You needed to treat them for Ich. Coppersafe could have been used, followed up with any of the Maracyn products, such as Maracyn-two, for secondary bacterial infections.
I hope you will go to your pet store, book store, or local library and get a book or 2 about aquarium keeping, especially one with a big chapter on fish diseases. A reference such as this is invaluable when your fish suddenly get sick and you don't know what's wrong. You can quickly diagnose the problem, and get the proper medication, instead of wasting time treating them with something that will do no good. Any clerk at any pet store (even Petco!) could probably have told you it was Ich. That is one of the easiest to diagnose of all fish ailments.
Go ahead and treat your tank for Ich. Your tank is infected and so are the surviving fish, they just haven't manifested it yet. It can take up to two weeks for Ich to show up after a fish is exposed, that is why it's always recommended to quarantine new fish in a quarantine or "hospital" tank for two weeks before putting them in your community tank. I'm betting you added at least one new fish (or plant)in the past two weeks, didn't you? That's where it came from.
Please invest in a reference book so the next time your fish get sick you can find out what's wrong right away, and treat it with the correct medication. Also, consider setting up a quarantine tank for your new arrivals. This need only be a plain 5-10 gallon tank, no substrate, decorations or anything, just a heater and filter. A small investment to protect the health of your tank. Good luck!
