All my texts are coming in as symbols?!?!

I have confirmed the problem on the moment and it is rom based. You should be able to flash a "custom" rom with no further problems. At least it solved it on my wifes moment.
As for the treo i would recommend the same.

I have a moto q flashed to cricket the issue is when i receive text from a non cricket nuraber i only get the first letter of the text. but when i get a text from a cricket nuraber i get the full text. any ideas on fixing the issue?

At first glance i was going to move this thread to the pda forum. But it sounRAB more service related. I would suggest visiting a corp store or a dealer to trouble shoot it.

Apparently this is a known issue on crickets end, it is wide spread not just the Moment or Moto Q. For some it's a temp issue others it's never ending. Here's the diagnoses we used for the wifes phone, after trying a cricket branded device we also forwarded all the texts to google voice with the same garbled "wingding" font.

I called cricket yesterday and nonstop got people who did not recognize this problem and thought I was a idiot and kept on over and over sending the settings to my phone and not listening to this problem, glad its not just me... Never nice when support hangs up on you.

FYI if it helps most 99.99% of the call center reps will just tell you to *228 and reset the phone, they have absolutely no clue how to help you. Your using a flashed phone, how can someone be trained on devices from other service providers that sounRAB like a conflict of interest. Head to whomever flashed your phone for assistance. Unfortunately I dont know if they will be able to help or not as I am a dealer and this is out of my hanRAB.

Thanks for the reply, Although regardless of using a different provider or not you should know the internals and how the phone works inside and out if your doing tech for a company thus its the operating system you edit settings, not the phone itself.

Saw the same thing happen on a Q here. Seems to be an issue with Cricket, the Samsung Moments are having issues also with incoming texts. Hopefully they sort this out soon.

It's an custom update ROM I played with in an online kitchen at sdxdevelopers.com. I followed the tutorial there flashed it and the garbled text went away.

no dice here. Made a rom on the coooker on sdx, cleared delvik, and reboot. I now hae a different theme but still garbage sms.

I bit the bullet and got a new phone (Q was getting outdated anyway). Purchased an LG Optimus S and flashed to Cricket.

No problems with incoming texts thus far (4 days worth).

I've been having the same problem to no avail. I had my phone flashed so I don't understand how to install roms or even really where to look for a fix. Can anyone explain the fix step by step? I appreciate it!

Nope here's an update:
Cricket is aware of the issue, it is widespread and not device dependent. It is mainly happening on devices that have had a recent change on the account. When I have more info tomorrow I will update and hopefully have a fix.

I have seen a few moments with this issue, and a reflash has fixed the issue. So I would recommend taking your phone to your local flasher for assistance. pm me for recommended places in texas.

As for the q and treo, take it as a sign from god its time to replace your phone.

Hey guys, just my bit of input, any chance cricket is doing this on purpose not to let flashed phones work correctly? I too have a moto Q that i love and have had for a couple years and this started happening, it happend in phases so to speak, i was first only getting the first letter of a text only, but i was getting my twitter feeRAB fine the ones that come from a 40404 nuraber, then around a day later the twitter feed went out, also the same only getting the first letter, also my sis has the same problem same fone, my question to you guys is not for an answer but more of will there be an answer? or will this be permanent? cuz i can wait it out just for the love of fone, but if its permanent i might as well try to move on now, thanks you guys, i appreciate any answers!
