All I get is an hourglass and I am so frustrated! A few other issues too..

Several main questions here - having to do with slowness with the new OS, device locking up ALL the time, and e-mails pouring into my text folder.

1. After I downloaded the new device OS 4.5 to my BB Curve, it seems to run slower, the trackball doesn't move from icon to icon the same way, etc. Any help with this or others w/ the problem?

2. I just signed up for the data plan yesterday. I thought wifi would be enough, and I could go online to get webmail and do IM'ing, etc. but it was so slow and unreliable. When I go to the text folder, I just get the darn hourglass and cannot turn the device off. I've tried doing alt escape or cntl escape or whatever it is, and holding down the red key and nothing. Finally, after about 20 min of doing this, I get an "uncaught exception" message and then I have to click ok. This is so annoying I want to throw this thing out the window.

3. When I try to go to Facebook for BB which I downloaded, it locks it up with the hourglass for minutes on end.

4. Sometimes with the IM applications it will also do that - lock it up.

How do I turn it off in these situations - I'm sick of letting it sit there for 20 plus minutes when I need to use the phone.

MAJOR question:

I set it up so that my POP email pushes to the BB. There is a nice little icon for this e-mail and I can clearly see when I have a new e-mail. However, it also dumps all e-mails into my text folder, where I get my simple phone texts, and this is quite annoying. Any way around mixing the texts with the e-mails???

Any help would be appreciated - I don't know if we're supposed to put our mails on here but you can PM me if they have that function.

Or my phone address is [email protected] I think. Don't quote me on that.

Thanks so much!!!!!!

Welcome to rabroad, am!

First, if you'd be so kind as to fill in your profile information, ie which device, OS, carrier, etc. That would be greatly beneficial for future reference. You can get your OS by going to Options>About and it's the third line down. You can edit your profile through the Control Panel in the top right corner or by selecting it from a dropdown in My Tools in the toolbar above.

Let's answer your major question first. I think you're confusing the text folder with the main messages folder, which is a repository for ALL your messages, whether it be texts, phone call logs or e-mail messages. Some people prefer to use this one folder for all their messages. Others, like me, prefer to have everything separated.

What you can do is separate MMS/SMS texts from e-mails into different folders by opening a messages folder, pressing the BB menu button (to the left of the trackball), then scrolling to and selecting Options. From there, go into General Options and down towards the bottom you'll see SMS and Email Inboxes. Change that setting to Separate, press the Esc button (to the right of the trackball) and make sure you save your changes. Now you have a separate folder for texts!

Next thing you might want to consider is to "hide" that main messages folder so that all that shows is your individual e-mail and text folders. Scroll over to that main folder, press the BB menu button and select Hide. The folder will now be hidden from the home screen. If you ever want to see what icons you've hidden (and you can do this with any icon on your home screen), simply press the BB menu button and select Show All. If you want to "unhide" any icon at that point, you can scroll over to it and uncheck Hide.

As for your hourglass issues, we'll need some more information to help you with that. What device, carrier and OS you've tried to install. Also, did you happen to have a media card in the device when you did the OS upgrade?

Once you answer those questions we can get your issues resolved!

Regards,
Roger
