I should first specify games that came with the computer are working just fine (solitaire, chess, minesweep, etc.) What isn't working is everything I have installed since I bought the computer: Spore, The Sims 2, and The Sims 3. They all were working perfectly fine until two days ago. I run Windows Vista home edition.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of them. I tried a System Restore, but that didn't help either.
When I try to run Sims 2 or Spore, I get this message: "The Sims 2 EP8/Spore has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
When I run Sims 3, this is what pops up: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application."
I'm at my wit's end with this stupid problem. I have absolutely no idea how to fix it -- help!
