Hey guys, just a quick question for all of the accutane users out there...
I recently started taking accutane, today is day 13 for me.
I was just wondering about the side effects....
I have heard of the dry skin, dry eyes, and chapped lips being very common, but are there any other normal side effects?
Like, chest pain?
I have been having a little bit, not severe or even constant, but some random chest pain, it this a side effect that any of you know of?

Thanks!

Ashley

This is not a common side effect...
A lot of people a depressed regaurdless.
It has never been proven that accutane causes depression.

Hi! I am on day 12 and I have been experiencing some chest pain as well. Especialy after i'm laying down on my stomach. I think that just goes along with the muscle pain that can be caused from accutane. I'd ask your derm about it next time you go, but i think we're ok! Good luck with your treatment

I've noticed my muscles take longer to recover from exercise, and I have a little more back pain. My derm said these are nothing to worry about, though I find them far more unpleasant than dry lips and dry skin!

My sister went positively nuts on Accutane. Seriously. She was suicidal (and never was otherwise, or even depressed). She truly warns others of the spiral she went down, and I watched it--proceed with care.

Today is day 104. Im nearly clear, I have been nearly clear for the past two months. I have maybe 3 small zits. Oil is completely under control. Lips are dry I use aquaphor, and I have dry skin. No other side effects. Had minor chest pain but that went away. I can't wait till all of the old marks fade.

Hello everyone! I just finished day 12 of treatment. I'm on 50mg a day. So far the only side effects i've noticed are dry eye, dry nose, and muscle pain (especially in the chest and back). My skin has been breaking out a little, it's not extremely severe though so i'm not sure if it's my initial breakout or not. My skin or lips really aren't that dry at all. Is this normal that i'm not severly dry yet?? Good luck to all who are using accutane!

Did she stop taking it and get better or? Was she upset during the time she was breaking out badly?

I took accutane when I was in high school. I took it for 6 months of my freshman year. I had it BAD. All over my back/arms/chest/face. I had zero confidence. While I was on accutane I didn't feel well a lot. I got nauseous quite often and was depressed (but I think depression was pre-existing). I admit is wasn't the most fun time in my life, but it didn't ruin the good times. After I was done I didn't have any acne at all. I was so happy! I had REALLY dry skin for about a year afterwarRAB and fairly dry skin since then (Im in my mid twenties now). My derm recommended NeoStrata Oily Skin Solution. I have corabination skin. Oily in some parts and dry and flaky in others. So I still use to it to this day (when I can afford it) and it works like magic. It evens out my skin and gets rid of the dead skin cells to make my skin really soft. I have to say accutane saved my self confidence. It has some side effects, but as far as i'm concerned it's all worth it!
