Aliens VS Predator 2 Trailer

I'll try to track down a copy.
When you refer to "versions" of The Abyss, I've seen 3 versions. I think the original UK theatrical release doesn't exist on DVD - this is the version with the extended "rat under water" scene, which James Cameron cut because people were uncomfortable watching it, but in my opinion it gives a much-needed tension to the whole "breathing emulsion" thing. Then there is the theatrical version with the shortened rat scene, and then the full version with the tidal wave and the explanation of why the aliens are doing what they're doing. IMO the only version that really makes any sense is the long version. The "making of" documentary on the DVD is really worth watching too. It's amazing.

(Sorry folks for going off-topic here)

What does everyone think about "Reiko Aylesworth" being in this? I think it's a great casting choice. She is a perfect replacement for Sigourney as the female lead. Reiko even resembles her.

I don't think it looks very good.

Alien and Aliens are two of my favourite trailers. You hardly see the Aliens! The same goes with the predator trailer(where you don't see it!)
This film just looks... common. Yeah blood and more blood, so? And they told us what the plot was in the trailer!

Aaarrggghhh! Why couldn't the Aliens massacre a flim crew? Starting with the studio then the producers. I'd watch that!
:)

Thats the problem, people are gonna think she is supposed to either be Ripley or be a homage to her, or evn (God forbid) a relative of hers. I hope they don't use either of those options in the film.

Paddy :D

I love the Alien films and enjoyed the first Predator. but to me Predator is nowhere in the same league as Alien, so to connect the two franchises into the same universe never sat very well with me.

I also really hate the fact the AVP pretty much sticks two fingers up at the previous alien movies by completely destroying the idea that the crew of the Nostromo were the first humans to encounter the alien species

Why don't people like the first AVP film? I was expecting it to be rubbish but I was surprised at how good it was.

None of the films has come any where near the quality of the first Alien film, but I would put AVP up quite high amongst the sequels franchise. Here's my analysis for what it's worth:

Alien - superb film, a true classic that should be taken seriously by the critics and film historians, with well developed "sexual predator" themes.
Aliens - good action film with a childish script and predictable formulaic plot. But totally enjoyable and very well done for what it was. Gives the adrenaline rush similar to playing a violent video game!
Alien 3 - could have been a great film but something - don't know what - was missing. A more serious film than Aliens.
Alien Resurection - I liked it when I saw it at the cinema but thought it was disappointing throwaway stuff when I saw it again on DVD recently. Some good stuff in it though, and an interesting development of the Ripley character.
Predator - groundbreaking stuff, but boils down to a simple cat and mouse action film.
Predator 2 - from what I recall, not particularly good
AVP - Probably up there near the top of the list, alongside Aliens as one of the better sequels.

Completely ignoring the established timeframes of the Alien lifecycle from the previous four movies didn't help (facehugger to full grown warrior in a matter of hours is laughable). Oh, and a girl running about the North Pole in a skimpy T-shirt. And what was the point of having Weyland/Bishop as the same actor other than gimmickry (Bishop II was clearly human in Alien3 with red blood and all)? And that's not even starting to look at the watered down PG-13ness of it.

Absolutely, unless you take the view the company in the future had some idea they would find an alien on that the planet based on past encounters it does seem rather silly now.

Sorry but it didn't conform to the original Alien and Predator movies. No blood, very wooden characters, and like the previous poster said, they had Lance Henriksen in the movie, and his character had no point at all except to set up the later company Weyland Yutani.

It just wasn't Aliens / Predator at all, didn't feel like it to me anyway.

The first film was was one of the most spectacular failures of recent times. How can you take two popular franchises, which have already been put together in a quality computer game, and come up with an underground pyramid is beyond me.

Also how is Paul WS Anderson still getting work???

ThinBoy, Alien is one of my favourite films also, but what did you think of Leviathan? Have you seen it?

I've seen alot of bad Alien rip-off's (DeepStar Six anyone?) but I actually thought Leviathan wasn't that bad. It even has the original composer of Alien "Jerry GolRABmith" doing the score also, which was equally as good.

Not really, the earlier occurance could have been the reason behind the order the Nostromo had to investigate the signal sent out, and which drew them to the planet upon which the alien vessel crashed.

i think the main deifference between this and the first one will be the age cert. this one looks like it will be an 18, like the first one should have been which is why it was garbage.

The film AVP came about because of the Dark Horse comic book of the same name. It was just supposed to be a kick ass event that some creative genius thought up.
The comic had great art (well the covers were) and was a fanboys dream.

Pity about the film. :(
