Aliens VS Predator 2 Trailer

I agree with everything said above, this one looks like it has alot more violence and gore in, i mean come on when two of the best franchises in movies join together i want the blood to spill, not running around a pyramid for ages.

Liking the title, with them not naming it AVP2 it's almost like they want us to forget the flop that was the first film.
 
Hmmm... Trailer looks great. But if I recall, so did the AvP one. Glad they've listened to the critics on the PG13 sanitization fo AvP - now all we need is for them to get the Alien life-cycle right his time, and have a plot that doesn't utterly suck and we're laughing.

Call me very cautiously optimistic based on that.
 
I've said it before but the Alien movies weren't built on gore so being gory doesn't equate to being great. It's a cheap thrill admittedly but fundamentally it equates to just more messing with the timeline and dilution of the Alien series.

Seeing as there are facehuggers and Aliens in the trailer then I think it's safe to say that some elements have been kept from the first film but they have cranked up the gore and swearing, something you would come to expect from an Alien & Predator film.

I like too how they have called it Aliens Vs. Predator, like the first film was called Alien then came Aliens with a 's' instead of a '2'. Same for this film, hopefully trying to appeal to the fans of Aliens who want all out action and didn't get it with the lame AVP.

I can't actually wait to see this now based on the trailer. Is it a wise move though to have it released on Christmas Day in the US?

The red band trailer definitely looks A LOT better compared to Anderson's version.

I've been told it looks a lot like the games more than the first movie did?
 
I think the Requiem but was put in purely so they could have the website as www.avp-r.com (which they do!) so they could ram home the point that this film will be R (possible UK 18) and that is alot more violent than the first one, because thats what we wanted, but never got.

aww is it only me that liked the first one then??

I wonder what the story lines of this one will be?
I hope the predators dont team up with humans again though, that was pretty gay lol.

I'd have to agree it definitely looks a lot gorier than the first one and hopefully they'll stick to there guns (no pun intended) and see it through as an R / 18 certificate.

I didn't hate the first one but I think this is a rare occasion where a sequel will be far superior to its predecessor.

I liked the special effect of the alien blood eating into the guys face! :eek:
 
Yes, it does look very gory. I would be surprised if this only got a 15, considering the amount of voilence (and very gory at that) that is shown in the trailer. Apparently, when questioned about the trailer and it's showing of many characters dying, the directors responded by saying that they are only the minor deaths, and the big death scenes are being kept under wraps along with the full body shot of the PredAlien.

Looks good! I can't wait for this now!

I seem to remember that 3 underwater adventure films came out more or less at the same time - Leviathan, Deep Star Six and The Abyss. I can't remember much about Leviathan, but Deep Star Six I recall as being pretty poor and one-dimensional. The Abyss on the other hand is one of my all-time favourite films, and easily the best thing James Cameron has done so far.

This rings alarm bells - films directed by visual effects people have been poor in the past. I'm thinking of The Fly II and Starship Troopers 2. It does look good though.

Silent Running was excellent though - directed by 2001 special effects man Doug Trumble.
 
The trailer is very gory. It looks like they've taken on board the criticism of the first movie about it being sanitised for PG-13 audiences and consequently ended up being a pile of garbage.

However, it still looks a bit formulaic, complete with female Ripley-type heroine.

The fact that it's directed by a couple of FX guys means it's going to be heavy on gory set-pieces and flashy effects but will it have enough of a plot or story line to make it a worthwhile viewing experience? I have a feeling it'll be a bit of a rollercoaster ride but will we care about any of the characters to root for them or are we just going to be waiting for them to each be picked off in gruesome ways?
 
Holy Christmas! This film looks insanely good, compared to the first. The Predators look like they did in their films and the Aliens look amazing...plus, PREDALIEN LOOKS SICK! :eek:

Wow...also, the acid melting the guy's face...this will haunt me for days!! :eek:
 
I really am crossing my fingers that this sequel is actually good (unlike the original). I finally would like to be able to see a decent fight between two of my favourite sci-fi creatures.

Then again I did that with the recent remake of Halloween, and not only is it the worst remake I have ever seen and believe me I've seen lots, it's probably the worst film I have seen in the last 15 years.

I hated the film around the opening 3-minute mark, that's how embarrassingly awful it is. I knew as soon as I heard 3 minutes of the worst dialogue imaginable I was going to be in for a real stinker. Halloween (2007) deserves to win every razzle award thrown at it.

Anyway, back to this film. The trailer portrays a sequel that looks really good... will it be? only time will tell.
 
I agree, The Abyss is one of my favourite Cameron films also. I'm still undecided upon which version I like best though. You should really give Leviathan another look, It's available on R1 DVD. I had only seen it previously in the horrible "pan and scan" 4:3 format via VHS and TV airings, then I got the DVD and was able to finally see the film in it's correct 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio with a decent enough transfer and Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround audio track (no 5.1 unfortunately), and I must say I really enjoyed it. The visuals are good, as is Jerry GolRABmith's score, and the creature (while not being in the same league as H. R. Giger's Xenomorph Alien creature design) was good enough. Stan Winston designed the Leviathan and other creature effects.
 
Now this is more like it. Because I was deeply disappointed with the first movie, it seemed like it had been made for children, and I hated anticipating it all that time and then being disappointed.

Now though, it looks like it is supposed to. The aliens are the aliens of old, with the shreiking when they die, and the Predators look more padded, muscular, and their weapons are deadlier, as it should be.

I am looking forward to this one. If they don't screw up, we might get a third one.
