Aliens Special Edition on CH4 now

Great film. Just reminRAB me every single time I see it what a steamy pile of monkey crap Alien 3, Alien Resurrection and Alien vs. Predator all are.

AVP2 is on the way. Let's hope it's a MASSIVE improvement huh!?.... "This time they have made a sequel targeted towarRAB it's loyal ADULT audience" and will have an R rating, sounRAB promising. It's how it SHOULD have been done in the first place. I'm sick of potentially good horror films being treated like crap because all the studio wants to do is market their film to an audience of "15 and under" in which the original concept was NOT ORIGINALLY DESIGNED FOR.

I wouldn't say it's BETTER than Alien because they're totally different films, and Alien is an out-and-out classic, but it IS the perfect sequel and a classic in it's own right. It's James Cameron at his utmost best. Some might say that Terminator 2 or The Abyss are better but I think Aliens JUST beats them, every moment of the film is satisfying as hell even in the longer Special Edition (the SE of Terminator 2 on the other hand messes things up a little).

Woah, one of the most amazing scenes ever is just on, where Ripley carrying Newt walks into the egg-laying room with the queen alien. No CGI could EVER beat that.

I completely agree. As great a sequel as Aliens is... Alien is the better film, and I think that's mainly because it a "sci-fi horror" film, where as Aliens is more "Action" orientated. The suspense alone in Alien beats anything in Aliens.

Believe it or not, the film Predator actually shows you a perfect example of how different they are in tone etc.

Predator starts off like Aliens, and is pretty much an action film, but by the hr mark, it morphs into Alien, as the tone of the film completely shifts into that of a "sci-fi horror" which is what makes the film both unique, and a classic.

Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are both very flawed movies, but they're still a league ahead of AvP. And yeah - Aliens is on of the greatest sci-fi movie ever made.

I think all 4 Alien films (not counting AVP) are products of very distinct and different directors - almost trademark films of those directors, and that makes the series interesting. They don't bow to pressure to stay loyal to the feel of the previous films. It makes them difficult to compare. I like all of them. I liked AVP as well.

Completely unrealistic story, no real plot, just using the "alien" franchise and "predator" franchise too, just a good excuse for a blood bath! :D

The showing was spoiled by Channel 4's obsession to remove flashing from the movie instead of just warning people that it contains it. The picture looked very jumpy in shooting scenes, especially the one with the sentry guns.

Aliens is an amazing film. Alien is brilliant, but I prefer Aliens. Alien 3 is NOT that bad a film, and the special edition with 30 mins of extra scenes is even better then the theatrical cut. I really like Alien 3, as much as I like Alien. Alien Ressurrection is pure drivel, save one or two scenes. Alien Vs. Predator, the less said the better.

I heard AVP2 was to be more bloody and poossibly an 18, but really, have you read the story? It's in a redneck village and the villagers fight back against the two races? Purleeze. It has shit written all over it, even if it is voilent and sweary.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Aliens was pinned against a wall with some buck-toothed redneck telling him he has a 'purrrrty mouth' before getting the Alien's toungue/mini mouth shoved into his eyeball. Actually, that would be quite funny! I just made myself laugh!

Paddy :D

For starters, it took all the principles about alien lifecycles, biology and history set down over four movies, and then threw them all out of the window to crowbar them into a watered down drivel fest. Excrement start to finish.

Both Alien and Aliens are superb films both are in my all time top ten.

I think A3 was ok BUT should have kept newt or hicks alive to deal with Ripleys child

I though Resurrection is an ok movie but not a patch on the original movies.

As for AvP, it should have stayed on the comic page where it belonged. I quite liked the premise that the predators bred and hunted them and the comic was pretty good.

As for any connection.. there is in fact an Aliens skull on the wall behind Danny Glover in the spaceship at the end of P2.
