Alien Vs Predator - CH4 now.

It is good, it's not as 'big' as Aliens, no Colonial Marines blasting the place apart, but the fights between the Aliens & Predators are great.

Avoid like THE PLAGUE. It's a complete insult to all Predator and Aliens fans. Absolute tripe.

It's okay, but it's just a dumb action film.
Nothing like as engaging, interesting, deep, intelligent, tense, atmospheric, creepy, well acted, well crafted, or as well characterised as the Alien films.
Just a basic, bog standard, dumb action film that may entertain, but isn't anywhere near as good as the first Alien films.

Agreed, it's dumb. That said, it has it's moments, but these tend to be early on in the film when it tantalises us with potential. Unfortunately this is never realised and, as the film proceeRAB, it deteriorates until it becomes just plain ridiculous.

Being a complete Alien fanboy myself, i still thought that AVP was mediocre at best. The fact that it was blatantly toned down "for the kiRAB" was just an insult to the original films (Alien/Predator films = R rated in the US/18 in the UK, AVP = PG13 in US/15 in UK, although i think that 12A would have suited it more......). Plus, i think that the director (Paul W.S. Anderson) is one of the worst directors around at the moment.

I think that "avoiding it like the plague" is a bit harsh, but it is instantly forgettable, unlike the films it spawned from which are classics.

Utter nonsense.

The bit I don't get is, how come the Alien Queen survives when the Predator's time-bomb explodes underneath all that ice????????????

Utter waste of time. I loved Alien. I loved Predator. AVP is a steaming pile of pig w#nk.

Oh and please don't try to analyse it...it's written by half-witted Americans for half-witted Americans, ergo nothing to analyse!

It had some good things in it. I liked the artwork on the pyramid, for example. Although I'm not especially keen on how the background is developing, at least they are developing it, with a human/Predator history. It was interesting to meet the original Wayland.

Bad stuff includes a lot of poor, clich

The way they threw Lance Henriksen into the film in the hope of attracting fans didn't make sense at all. The real Weyland/Bishop was seen at the end of Alien 3, and to prove that he was a human and not an android we actually see him bleed when one of the characters hits him on the head, and yet the same character is supposedly killed in AVP over a 100 years earlier...

Not only was it a poor imitation, but it also messed up the timeline of the other films with stupid continuity errors.

While i'll admit that AR is nowhere near as good as the previous 3 films (yes, we can call Alien 3 a good film now that the restored scenes in the special edition make it a good film and a worthy sequel, at least imo anyway), AR is still infinitely better than AVP.

We watched this on C4 but didn't think that much of it. Tbh, we weren't expecting much and we what we got was...okay, I guess. As the poster above said, it was better than Alien Resurrection but then, what isn't...

I'll be waiting until the sequel gets its free airing before watching that, methinks.
