Alien V Predator advert

hey, i have just returned from the cinema and saw Alien Vs Predetor, i have to say i very much enjoyed the film and it was very action packed, im guessing because of the way it enRAB they are most likly to make a sequel to it? Hope its good, thanks alot, Tom
 
I'm fine, not much has changed with me, apart from a new job.

It looked exactly like a chestburster, but it had the four Predator lips with horns around its mouth, and a shooting tongue, so it would be very interesting to see a full sized one.

Can't wait for the sequel, or the uncut DVD...

I liked it, but was dissapointed by the lack of a decent fight, i was expecting bigger somehow.

Although, whilst looking in imdb i found that the guy who played the lead predator was born in the same town as me, neat.
 
Where did you read that? Because it's quite common knowledge that there is no uncut version of the film. What you see is what was shot, that's why people give Paul Anderson jobs, he's efficient.
 
I have also read recently in last months Empire magazine that Paul Anderson stated that there is no uncut version that is going to be released on DVD. It seems that the uncut version was a false rumour!
The AVP DVD release in America in Jan 05 will have these extras:

Extras will include an audio commentary by Paul W.S. Anderson, Lance Henriksen and Sanaa Lathan, a second commentary by Alec Gillis, Tom Woodruff Jr. and John Bruno, an alternate opening version of the film, an AVP Making of Featurette and three deleted scenes entitled The Other Mexico, O Sole Mio and Predator Humour. Completing the package will be an Inside Look at Mr and Mrs Smith and Elektra, a Darkhorse AVP Comic Covers Galley containing sixty-five stills and DVD-ROM features containing Darkhorse's first edition of the AVP comic book and an exclusive look at the first 16 pages of the up-coming AVP graphic novel.

About the studio's cutting of the film, which he had no control over, he said, and I quote, "All of the best scenes were cut." Anderson was obviously very annoyed at the way the film was released. However, this was not purely because of the PG-13 limitation, which incidentally, the studio enforced THREE WEEKS before the release date! It was always going to be R until then. Part of the reason for the cutting was that some of the effects were not ready by the time the release date came around. The effects team had very little time to do anything.

As far as the content that was cut, apparently we see all those who die, die on screen, but he also said that there is a sub-plot that we will have to wait for on DVD. Yes there will be an R-rated Director's cut DVD although they don't know the release date yet.
 
Accourding to Paul Anderson these were planned as some of the extra bits in AVP:

"We had originally planned to shoot scenes where, during the final battle between the two evil extraterrestrial forces, the entire human race is disemboweled, beheaded and de-spined for the Predator’s trophy closet, while the Aliens hunt down remaining stragglers and halve them at the waist," he revealed. "Instead, a more tasteful approach was chosen, and I am satisfied with the result."

Also there is the different opening with the Whaling station in 1904!
 
It was on a movie preview show on TV 3 in Ireland where I read of this. It basically played 3 minutes of the film, (it actually played one of the best bits which would almost spoil the film for people who hadn't seen it yet), and it gave information text at the bottom.

It said on it that the film has been edited alot, so gore fans would not be happy, but they neednt deapair, as Paul Anderson has said there will be an uncut DVD release after Christmas.

Hope it's true, there seemes to be alot of scenes where gore was cut, or 'avoided' by a high or low camera angle, maybe this was a special technique used with 2 cameras, where one shot the footage used in the PG-13 film, and another camera also shot the same scene from a different angle where all the gore remains on screen?

I was mistaken with what magazine that I had read that there would be no directors cut as it wasnt Empire it was SFX. This is also on the filmfocus website with a interview with Paul Anderson on the 4 of October he was quick to quash any rumours that might have been circulating regarding an R-Rated plot. He revealed there had never been an R-Rated version of the film and that the PG-13 rating was as a result of the simulated Alien and Predator gore, less harmful in the censor's eyes.
Anderson also said that, in his original vision of the opening, there was to be a flashback to 1904, the last time the Predators came to earth to do their business (the alien killing kind). This flashback will be restored for the DVD and it'll be the first scene in the film of Aliens and Predators battling. Anderson revealed that the ultimate decision was made to cut the pay-off from the opening, keeping the species' first encounter with one another for a later stage.
Anderson said that Arnold Schwarzenegger had gone as far as to accept a role in the film, reprising the character he tackled in Predator, Dutch Schaeffer. Anderson revealed that Arnie had only two stipulations, that his role would be conditional on his losing the election for Governor in California, and that it would be filmed at his home.
The scene was to be a short cameo, involving Arnie's own helicopter. While Anderson didn't discuss details, at a guess we'd say it would have had something to do with him rescuing the survivors at the end of AvP.
I would have loved to have seen that Arnie Cameo in AVP!
