Comparisons over on AVS Forums (only the top picture seems to have a comparison picture though, but it really shows how much of a step up it is from DVD to BR): http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=19151751&postcount=869

Stunning, especially Aliens when you consider it was filmed on low grade film stock. I cannot freaking wait for the 25th of October! My TV is going to weep tears of joy! :D

Alien 3 too IIRC.
Is it Aliens Special Edition?
But I think anyone interested in the Blurays is unlikely to feel the broadcast versions are as good.
Inferior bitrates , adverts ,no HD audio , only one version and no bonus features.

This Bluray set is a particularly outstanding bargain

Did anyone see Alien and Aliens & Alien3 on C4HD this week?

I know SkyHD isn't as good as Blu-ray, but does anyone know whether the versions shown will be close to the versions released in October? I hope not......well, especially for my favourite film ever, Aliens...

Alien looked good so did Alien3, but I wasn't so keen on Aliens, it looked quite soft and not too different from the DVD version...

I watched Alien earlier on actually and agree it did look good in HD.

I'll probably give Aliens a go tomorrow, but I watched the first 10 minutes or so and i'm fairly sure it's the special edition - I can't remember the scene with Newt and her parents discovering the alien ship in the vanilla cinema version.

(*edit* - just looked it up and the version show on 4HD was the special edition..)

I've recorded Alien3 as well but i've literally only ever seen it once - when it was released at the cinema. I remember hating it, so it'll be interesting to watch it again.

Would have been nice if they'd shown Alien Resurrection to round it off, but then I have to confess that I didn't mind the AvP sequel (didn't record it though, but saw it at the cinema).

hi guys, question for people who've bought the new alien anthology set....
Regarding the first Alien movie... Disc 6 states there are 'Additional deleted scenes' from the first movie. Does that mean there are further deleted scenes included here, that werent in previous dvd releases of Alien...?I think theres been about 7-9 standard deleted scenes plus x2 out-takes which have been included on the last couple of dvd releases. I dont wanna buy it if theres no new material included about the classic first movie!;)
