Alien Anthology coming in October

Finally the Blu-ray movie compilation for the Alien series has an official release date, October 25th.

Be interesting to see what they have one with Aliens, whether they have sharpened it up or left it as it was. Either way it's bound to upset some :)

Been looking forward to this myself for quite some time.
 
I'll stick with my dvd quadrilogy(upscaled slightly on my blu ray player), and I prefer the packaging. Plus I saw Alien on the big screen when it was re released, so seen it in its full glory, I hope...

Will not be spending money just to get the set on blu ray too.
 
are there any extra bits of film footage from the original Alien included, which werent in the last dvd release? Not interested in the other x3 films, just the original (and still the best!)
 
As you saw the film 31 years ago you won't have seen as good an image as you will on Bluray - albeit a much smaller one.

Back then film prints were prone to dust , dirt etc .
Nowadays films on Bluray are perfect - perhaps too perfect - and the film has undergone major restoration before so both versions that were on the dvd will also be on the Bluray along with lots of new extra features.

This will be one hell of a set with plans to include all the extras that were part of the Laserdisc boxsets aswell as all the dvd extras and new extras too.

Not sure if the commentaries that were missing on the UK dvd's will be included this time or exclusive to the US sets again

What with Back to the Future and Alien sets on the same day its going to be an expensive one.

IIRC there are other important releases on that day too

ORDERED!! and the egg version as well!!!!

i must admit though - from what i have read about it, there looks like no differences between this and the quadriliogy realise some years ago. extras seem the same.
and i dont normally buy something on BD which i have on dvd already. but as Aliens is my fave movie and franchise, i am happy to make an exception this time.
 
The reports say there are loaRAB more extras on the Bluray than on the dvd .
All the laserdisc bonuses should appear here too

I wonder if The Alien Saga will though . Thats a 90 minute documentary made by Fox a few years back which came out on a separate R1 dvd
 
Maybe those commentaries are the ones missed off te last UK set.
The R2 only had a commentary on one version of each film while the US set had a commentary on both versions
 
Has it even been confirmed that this scene still exists or that it will definitely be in the new boxset?

I can't wait to see the scene myself now!
 
Even if its the only addition , an unseen (in the UK) 90 minute documentary is quite a substantial bonus.

But that list seems pretty exhaustive .
Nice to see they are including every extra ever done , even all the LD stuff.

Confusion that the blurb at the top says 4 hours of new stuff yet when they mention the poRAB further down it says 5 hours newly made for this collection.

One way or another it's doubtful that anyone will ever get through every single moment of this mammoth collection
 
The most important changes with this release are related to Alien 3.
This includes a new sound mix for the workprint edition of the film (which is far superior) that includes re-dubbed line that were almost inaudible in the DVD release. http://www.killerfilm.com/articles/read/new-details-on-alien-anthology-blu-ray-28503
The other change is that we now get the full, unedited making-of documentary for Alien 3 that is no longer censored to protect certain people at the studio.
