Alien 5: A Possibility?

Oh my god is that true that Newt was intended to be the next carrier. I'm so glad they didn't go with that it would have been heart breaking. It was bad enough that she died at all but if she had "given birth" to the next alien i think i would have burst into tears.

I don't think the third one was that bad. Resurrection could have been better but it is still watchable. Although i always wondered why the aliens look more like the one from the third one more than the originals (notice the legs). The only reason why the third alien was different was because it came from the dog but the crew of resurrection obviously didn't pick up on that.

I hope there is a fifth one but I think it would be interesting to see them on earth. Not in an isolated environment but free to kill anyone in public. There is one problem with the whole series though: Alien and Alien 3 ate their victims but Aliens saw them using them to breed. What is the true alien instinct?
 
If they were to use sigourney Weave's idea of going to the home planet to destroy them once and for all that would be the end. However if they wanted the possibility of more than one they could do the earth invasion first and then in retaliation attack the aliens home planet. That would conclude the series perfectly.

I did like the character of Ripley. However you must remember that she is dead and it is merely her clone that lives on. As seen in resurrection she is not the same person and i think the series could easily conclude without her but tie her into it by mentioning her and events from previous films as done in Miss Congeniality 2.
 
I think that is a brilliant idea but what are the books called and who wrote them. I would love to read it and would love to see a great translation to the big screen. They should definately discuss the aliens origin.
 
The only two directions that Alien 5 could really go in is either an invasion of earth, or a trip to the Aliens home planet. With Scott or Cameron directing and an 18 certificate it would be a dream movie for me. Michael Biehn(such an under-rated actor) has to return if possible - even as an android.

I liked Alien 3 too. I think it just had problems with production and could have been better had Fincher been given more time and a bit more money, but we can't have everything.

As far as I was concerned that was a natural end and Resurrection should be burned and forgotten and wiped from history...

Let's just leave it alone.

Resurrection was undoubtedly terrible, but I don't think Alien 3, the way it came out, was worth much either. Both should be wiped from history, and any future Alien films should continue where Cameron's Aliens left off.
 
The problem is, it'll be given a PG rating because all the execs care about these days is how many people go to see it and how many toy figures can be sold. Take AvP, Terminator 3, etc for example. Gone are the glory days of the 80s when there were films created solely for adults (Alien, Aliens, Terminator, Predator, etc) and you could expect a truly magnificent action flick that wasn't tamed down for kiRAB.
 
She's not alien, she's human. Obviously you thought Alien Resurrection was a documentary.

But seriously, they don't need Siggy to make another - Ripley's story should have ended with Aliens. If Ridley doesn't do it, I think Guilermo del Toro would be excellent at the helm. Or Neil Marshall going by the Descent which is partly a (very good) Alien homage anyway.
 
It would be tragic to make another one. Ever heard the phrase 'flogging a dead horse'? I'm not a huge fan of any of the Alien films, but I don't hate them either, it's just that you've really gotta know the point where enough is enough, and another Alien film would just be overdoing it.

Sigourney Weaver would be committing career suicide if she did another one.
 
The series has never really been about the violence though - none of the films could be remotely described as a gore fest.
A decent story should be the priority and if it requires strong imagery then yeah, don't hold back!
 
Cinescape are reporting that Ridley Scott was asked recently about Alien 5 and he said "I'd love to - and we're talking" He was also asked if it would star any of the original cast and he said Sigourney's on-board, and he hopes Lance Henriksen might be interested too. However he did also say that it’s "Too early to even speculate...we haven't even finished the script yet". So it looks like Alien 5 might just happen but it may be a while until we see it in the cinema!
 
Last I heard, it was due to be a joint venture between James Cameron and Ridley Scott, the former producing and the latter directing. Weaver's up for it if the script is good enough too.
 
We might have to wait a while if Ridley Scott is going to direct.

I think AVP was an ok film, but should be looked at seperately from the 'Alien' films, as it isn't set in the far future like they are. It is more like a sequal to the Predator films and a prequal to Alien.

AVP was ok as a standalone film in my opinion, not at all in the same league as the Aliens films of course, but not bad.
 
I remember reading somewhere that Sigourney said she would nto do an Alien 5 unless it had Ripley going to the Aliens home planet and wiping out the species once and for all, and she also wanted alot of things, which she wasn't going to get at the time. She also said the idea of Alien Vs Predator was 'vile' and would have nothing to do with it, as she was asked to star in it.

Would be a bit annoying if they kept her as an cloned alien/human hybrid as she was in Alien Resurrection. Alien 3 was good, I enjoyed it, I was slightly annoyed that they killed off Hicks and Newt, but what choice did they have, Alien 3 was made 6 years after Aliens, so Carrie Henn would have looked alot older than little Newt looked. A lookalike would have been a bad idea.

If Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection could be passed off as some elaborate dream of Ripleys while she was in hypersleep at the end of Aliens, and they made a direct sequel to Aliens, with Michael Biehn reprising his role as Ripley's love interest, (forget Newt, let her die or be the carrier for the alien, as originally planned), then maybe an Alien 5 would be a very worthwhile sequel afterall.

Alien Vs Predator was OK as a throwaway action flick, but as a proper movie for both franchises it was dire. The sequel will be interesting though, an alien/predator species, who knows what powers it will have...! Just please don't let Paul WS Anderson touch it, is there any film that man CAN'T ruin?
