Alice in wonderland- TIM BURTON. MARCH 5TH.

I see it the other way round. Cinema cannot continue to block all other media.

Most films are in cinemas for 8 weeks. It's not asking much to reduce the window to 12 weeks.

Disney wants to help protect cinemas too, but that means combating piracy and that means not having 2 months where people have NO legal way of consuming a film.
 
I am a HUGE Tim Burton and Johnny Depp fan.
But I came away... slightly disappointed, and lacking in things to say.

My only problem is that it was just too productionised. I miss his good ol' personal films like "Edward ScissorhanRAB". It was just too blockbuster.
 
you could sort of see this happening slowly but surely

the gap between Theatrical and DVD/Blu Ray/PPV getting smaller

just hope i get to see this film as i saw the 3D trailer when i watched Toy Story 2 with my little lad,and it was simply gorgeous

it shoud be a promising film to watch considering it seems to a good remake of a classic film. Making it more appealing to teenagers.
 
The actress has also recieved acclaim for her American accent in a HBO show named In Treatment as well. Australian's do the best american accents anyway.
 
This film has literally been loved by many and loathed by others, it's quite interesting to see people's views on it actually.

Still need to see it in 3D, but i actually quite liked Mia as Alice :)
 
I just thought of something - the fact that the place is actually called UNDERland and not WONDERland is an important point, maybe it became UNDERLAND when she was away?
 
Huh? :confused: Is it based on Through The Looking Glass or a new story or both Alice In Wonderland/Looking Glass?
I thought Alice was supposed to be a girl (child) anyway.
 
Just going off topic but did anyone else get the email from Sky(if you're a customer that is) where they are giving away free 3d tickets which air at the same time as the premiere at selected local cinemas,did not think I would get any but clicked on the link logged in and selected my local Cineworld(Sheffield)and voila bagged myself 2 tickets for the 19:50 showing on Thursday the 25th:D can't wait.
 
I saw this last night, Mia was pretty good and hope she will do well in the future. The film was pretty good I thought.

This was not as '3D Intensive' as Avatar and did not go for too much eye-candy, in fact my wife said she did not think it benefited from the 3D very much at all. I tend to agree, the 2D film would be great too.

Also, the 3D glasses used at the Empire where I watched this were very reflective, I could see bright patches of reflection inside my glasses which I guess were off the reflections off the outside of the glasses of the people behind me! This was very off putting to the point I was considering giving up watching the film.

Is this the style of 3D glasses always used at Empire or does it vary from film to film?

I have a pair of RealD3D glasses, which I can only describe as the Harry Hill style, and these are not reflective at all. I got these when I saw Avatar and they did not work for this showing of Alice.
 
Just got back from seeing it in 3D, the 3D isnt needed tbh and i think id enjoy it more in 2D. It didnt feel like a Tim Burton film, not sure why just something about it, could have been the 3Dness?? I did enjoy it though and looking forward to the dvd.
 
Just got back from seing it in 3D. I'm a very big Tim Burton fan, and was so hyped for this film, as I love Alice in Wonderland.

I really enjoyed the film, the CGI was brilliant, and I adored all the animals, especially the Cheshire Cat. I really loved the White Queen too, she was very Burton-esque, with traces of the Alien woman from Mars Attacks. Although, the story was a little hollow, and I wasn't a fan of the Mad Hatter character at all. It all seems too forced for the character to become a cult icon, espcially with him being the main promotion force for the film. A thing that almost completly ruined the film for me though, was the
dance scene at the end, with the out of place music and everything, so terrible!

Overall, the film would never have lived up the hype I've been given it, and its not Burtons best. But I really like it. I'd give it an 8.5/10, would have been a 9, ifit wasn't for that thing I hated in the spoiler box!!!
 
I'm trying to stay open-minded as I was so looking forward to this, but the comparisons to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are filling my stomach with dread. I HATED that film - the worst Burton movie that I have seen - and if Alice in Wonderland is anything remotely similar I'm going to be gutted.
