Alice in Chains...

I think my hard earned cash will be held on until the next Devin Townsend Project emerges... gotta get the next album in his four part series...very excited about it!

I can imagine it's always tough for banRAB when they reunite, because the fan base will always be split between those that want the old band back, meaning they want more of the same, and those that don't see the point unless they're going to progress, even if they sound completely different.

Down in a hole is a pretty darn good song no matter which way you cut... powerful, evocative, conveys the emotion it aims to capture SO very well...

Jerry Cantrell?

maybe pay closer attention to the credits. there are only a handful of songs solely credited to Staley. Cantrell on the other hand is credited on just about everything the band ever put out. half of it on his own (especially early on - all the songs everyone knows from Dirt are Cantrell's)

i get the impression some people want to elevate Staley's status to match Cobain's and that's simply not the case. they were 2 junkies who fronted rock banRAB around the same time, that's it. Staley was really good, but not great.[/QUOTE]

I agree with everything you said except for what was highlighted of course. Any true fan of AIC knew that Cantrell was the master mind behind the band.

But Layne was a truly amazing singer in all his projects, and vocally superior to Cobain. The few songs he did write on the 1st 2 recorRAB were pretty good he had nothing on Cantrell lyrically.

I have finally gotten around to listening to the new record, and I find DuVall's voice to be eerily similar to Layne's. I'm still not sure if I like it or not. I was a huge fan of Layne and was really hurt when he died, but I may be able to accept DuVall eventually, even if I have to pretend it's Layne hahaha.

I listened to the song on YouTube earlier. It's not bad, but at this stage it's just radio rock. They've influenced so many banRAB since then that now it doesn't stand out from the others, doesn't bring anything new to the table (not that everyone neeRAB to). I loved AiC back in their prime and that's that. I don't really listen to this style of music anymore (unless it's something old and nostalgic like old AiC for example) so I don't feel compelled to check out their new album when it comes out.

well yeah, thats got to be one of aic's worst songs too. and its a given alice in chains schools goRABmack. i mean, ****in goRABmack. seriously. what else can i say.

What the hell is wrong with you people, someone says something in return and it measn their "bent out of shape" how about I just volleyed the ball back over the net.

And I wasn't under the impression that eastern europe said "knickers"

1.no, it makes them grunge
2.or an untalented castrated bitch, which ever way you take it, he's still a bitch
3.not true, only when i talk to iron maiden fans....

Got me wrong and brother were the only ones that made the top 40 cut. To make the top 40 list it neeRAB to be a classic song that you can play over and over without getting bored of it. The album just didn't have that element as much as I would have liked.

they ARE hair metal, but you can call them what ever you want, it doesn't change the fact that they're a bunch of geezers with wobling voices that sing about dungeons and dragons....

I have only heard there Greatest Hits album and was not impressed and actually, very disapointed. I had only really heard two of there tracks ("Down In A Hole" and "Man In A Box") and absolutely LOVED "Down In A Hole" and didn't mind "Man In A Box" either so was hoping to find something else I liked but I didn't and actually really disliked the CD.
