your logic baffles me, i happen to be very proud of the fact that i have an extremely diverse taste in music, unlike you, i coudn't care less if a certain band is mainstream or not, i just like good music and i'm really not concerned if you think it's good or not


?? em...obviously you don't like acid jazz/funk, but i don't see anything funny about liking jamiroqui, there were many other universaly disliked banRAB on that list that you could have laughed at.....and i still would give a toss....

That's the thing, I just cant explain why I don't like them. Maybe it's the singers voice or something, but I dunno, when I hear there songs I have to turn them off, cuz they always seam to give me a headache.
 
no no no it's not just a certain band. mostly EVERY band in your list is mainstream. but the mainstreamness doesnt really matter, its the fact that its all mainstream TRASH! lemme guess, you like maroon 5 too? i love how people think my music taste isn't diverse. they just assume it because i don't like a certain genre they like. look at my list. i happen to listen to many different kinRAB of ROCK. you, on the other hand, have only trashy untalented mainstream on your list with your hint of good classic rock.
 
same here but i can't think of another track that could have been some sort of eulogy for Cobain. i wouldn't be surprised to learn that it was just fans trying to connect dots that didn't exist between their favourite banRAB from back in the day though.
 
i was lucky enough to catch them when they were on tour for Dirt....great show....i only recently realized that thier unplugged album is one of the best cd's ever.
 
Saw the video of Check My Brain last night and was very impressed overall... the song, the presentation of the band, everything. I actually felt almost as happy as I did in the early nineties when I was discovering a whole slew of awesome new banRAB.
 
I know grunge catches a lot of flak here (and in many places) but I still think Alice in Chains was a great band and a cut above the rest... certainly more eclectic. Layne Staley was a fantastic vocalist (one of the best of the 90s) although I can understand if some find his accent hard to digest. But really, the whole band is superb. Jar of Flies and Dirt are my faves.

My fav song is probably Nutshell. The whole EP is great.

Yeah, the ex-lead singer's voice was pretty unique: he had one of those voices that you either loved, or absolutely hated.
You're not the first person to make such an observation.
 
"Rain When I Die" is a hell of a song. I can't quite agree with you as far as Facelift being a better album, though. But Facelift is a great ****in' album. The track that gets me every time from Facelift would have to be "Sunshine". I would have to say that my favorite track from the Self-Titled disc might be "Frogs" or "Sludge Factory". They started getting pretty strange (really into dope) with that one.

I've been a huge Alice in Chains fan since I was eight years old. They've been a great inspiration for the music that I write. And although the Staley/Cantrell duo can never be duplicated, I still think that William Duvall is a great frontman and deserves the utmost respect for what he's doing. **** the Nay-Sayers.
 
Them Bones, Man in the Box and We Die Young were all pretty badass. I've got live versions of Maynard from Tool doing Them Bones and Man in the Box, they're pretty cool too.

There are some others I like but I can't remeraber right now, I like early Soundgarden better but these guys were definitely some of the better grunge, everything was so much more sleazier and gritty, I guess is what you would call it, than Nirvana and other artists at the time.
 
That's what I would be most concerned about... the lyrical content was an important aspect Staley brought to the music... without that it might seem odd, perhaps even inferior... unless the band has some other amazing lyricists amongst it's ranks that never shpwed their face in their early days...
 
i think you should check out Jar of Flies and if you are still bored, try Mad Season and then if your still bored i feel really bad for you that you cant get into either of these banRAB cause theyre ****ing great
