Alice Cullen-Twilight Sega?

I know that Alice can have visions, but how do her visions come to her? Someone told me that she has to be told an incident or something and then she can have visions about it, can she just have them out of the blue, or is it both? Like, in Breaking Dawn, how did Alice know about Bella's pregnancy? and in New Moon, how did she know that Bella fell off the cliff if no one of the Cullen family told her? I hope this question isn't confusing! Any help would be great.
 
she just has to focus on the person she want to know about thier future..its easier for people she has a close relatioship to but she really just has to think about that person and look at their future...as much as she can anyway becasue the future can change when peoples minds change

its both... she can vision what she wants and stuff just out of the blue.
 
She is able to see big things that happen in the future. She has stated that she sees her kind best, Vampires, but if the human reason is big enough or she is close enough to them and has more of their tenor, she can see them as well aka Bella. Plus she can also focus on things she wants to see in the future. She can look ahead to see what happens to them in the future, or the weather like when they are going to play baseball. Most of the time she is focused at looking for the future of the Cullens, make sure that nothing unexpected or bad comes up. And then when Bella comes into their lives, she begins to look out for Bella. The reason Alice saw Bella when she jumped off of a cliff was because she was so attuned to watching out for Bella that even though she wasn't watching Bella's future anymore, it was a familiar wave that her mind automatically picked up on. Then in Breaking Dawn Alice probably wasn't watching their honeymoon, kind off gross, so she didn't pick up on the pregnancy right away, until the revelation came to Bella and Alice caught the big change. Now I hope that answer wasn't confusing. Alice can focus on what she chooses to see and recieves mostly visions on things that she selects to see the future off, in particular big changes. Bella jumping off a cliff, the vampires (Laurent, James, Victoria) Pregnancy. I love Alice!
 
She can see the future, it's as simple as that. All she needs to do is focus on a person, and she can see their future, with the exception of the werewolves, Renesmee, and Bella or any other person when they are with the werewolves. Sometimes when a tragedy, or threat is coming the visions will hit her, like in Twilight when she saw the nomads coming to play ball with them. Also the future changes, the smallest change in decision can change everything. Like when the nomads were approaching the clearing they had good intentions, they just wanted to play ball, then James smelled Bella and everything changed.

She has a harder time seeing humans, than vampires, and she finds it easier, like Edward, if she knows the person.
 
The same way Edward can hear people MILES away.

The "tune" of their minds. Like an AM/FM radio station, Alice is very attuned to Bella, and can see her decisions because she'd been watching her throughout the whole first book.

AND Edward is always with her, and Alice has a special affiliation with Edward.

She can only see stuff when it is planned or "destined to happen". If any changes are made to the plan or something is done sporadically, it confuses her mind.
 
she just focuses on a cetian person.
but she cannot see werwolves in her visions and she can see humans blury. becaue she has never been a werewolve, but she once was a human. but it still isnt as clear as when she sees vampires

Both. Sometimes they just appear, and sometimes she thinks of a person, and a vision about them appears.
 
they just kind of come to her sudenly, but if the person in the vision changed their mind about what they were goin to do, the future would be altered.
