Ali G Film!!

Can't believe this is finally coming out. I'm definitely going to go and watch it.
Do you think it's gonna work tho?? We're used to seeing Ali G in his famous interviews and own TV show, but is the same format going to be as funny in a film about how he saves the PM??

What do you all think?
 
I cannot stand him so definitely won't be going to see it. The clip I saw on the tv today was appalling, very wooden. The only thing that makes me cringe more is seeing Richard (of Richard and Judy) doing an impression of him, that was painful but the worse thing was Richard thought he was fantastic at it.
 
I quite liked a lot of his stuff but I saw a preview of the film last night and OH MY GOD! I looked so bad. Even unconcious I would put up resistance against seeing it.
 
I'm a great fan of Ali G comedy but I'm not sure if it will transfer well onto the big screen, but you never now. Mike Myers made a success out of Wayne's World after it was featured on sketches on Saturday Night Life.(BTW-just realised recently that Mike Myers apperaed with Timmy Malled on Wack a Day)
 
Everything I've seen about it has looked really, really awful. I was mildly amused by his act to start with, and some of his interviews were quite funny, but I really don't think it'll transfer well to film, especially if the trailer is anything to go by.

I haven't seen the trailer to the movie yet, but I already know that I won't be going to see it. I can't stand Ali G and I don't think he's as funny as he thinks he is.

The Posh & Becks interview is the only one I enjoyed and laughed at but he'd have been up shit creek if they hadn't been such good sports imo.
 
A friend of mine is in the Ali G film. He told me a funny bit where it sounRAB like Tony Blair is having sex with various world leaders. Ali also gets a BJ from his Scottie dog (called Tupac).

i have never really found ali G that funny, and the song from the soundtrack that is out at the moment has to be one of the most annoyin repetative songs in the world!. I instantly change tv channel/radio every time its on.
 
Hmmm!! I detect a sarcatic note in your post. Don't they say that sarcasm is the highest form of wit ? No, they say something else. I can't remember what though.

We all like different things, I suppose. I like witty and sometimes dirty humour. Ali G is funny to me.

Now, see, I love witty and sometimes dirty humour. But, I still don't think Ali G will work in a film, and the bits of it I've seen in trailers and so forth have backed that up majorly.

Ali G is an excellent satire of a certain type of person, but it's been taken too far, to the point where people actually think he's cool...

... but, who knows? It could be good.

Sacha Baron Cohen should have quit while he was ahead (just after he had got his own show). Everyone knew the act was going to wear thin pretty soon and I'm sure I remember him saying that he was gonna kill Ali G off but instead he's gone and done the dishonourable thing and made a bloody film and song!

He was great on the 11o'clock show and his own show wasn't bad but I think he's well lost it now - especially as he seems to believe he is actually Ali G.
 
So what?So a paper representing his religion hates his dirty act.Big swing.Would you really care if you were making millions and the C of E was condemning your filthy ways?Doubt it.The Galagher brothers might be catholics but the Pope hardly excommunicates them every time they beat up a journalist does he?You cant expect any religion to like risque humour.The church even disliked Father Ted.
 
I have seen an Exclusive *cough* DVD Screener .. clip.. aint seen it all for techinaical reasons... but the bit I saw was GREAT.
Not the clips on TV and trailers that are shown.. they look well AVERAGE.

Watched it... was OK

I dont think it transfer quite well too the big screen would have gladly watched 2 hours of his interviews/sketches.

The film has some annoying points, and towarRAB the end of the credits I heard the "Eeurrrrrr" sound people made as they departed from there seats but too my surprise Ali g popped up and he tried too make some reference on how the film wasnt as bad as u might have thought..and too my shock he "Begged" people too say it was good so more watch it since he needed da money for his grandmas hip operation....

That bit was the clincher for me, not sure but a film like that could very well end his character !

If u got money/time too waste watch it, other then that stick too his DVRAB/show cos thats the Real AliG
