Algebra or Pre-Algebra?

I'm starting jr high not to long from now and I need help deciding if i should pick algebra or pre-algebra. I get great grades on math now but i'm not in one of the talented kids classes. like is algebra really hard. I really want a challenge, but i dont want to fail. my parents think i can do it, but they dont pay ANY attention to my school work now... how would they know. (im not trying to be rude)

i am in algebra and it is pretty good. It is challenging and you do need to start to get in the habit of studying. If you have an B+ or A in normal math, you should do fine in Algebra. Even in you start struggling, you will just get sent to pre algebra. Collages look for students that go above and beyond, if you take an advance math class that improves your grade average in high school. Might as well get ahead while you still can, because its worth the extra effort. I have friends that are in Pre algebra and wish they qualified for algebra because pre algebra is the exact same things that you learned in 6th grade, with a few things added in.
