Who has seen this? It has had awful reviews but I love it for the most twisted reasons: gay men.

It was just SO hot. I hate Colin Farrel with a loathing but in the film blonde he was SO hot (and his young version who looked identical to him. He's 14 which is just wrong)

There was one scene with Angelina and Colin (when they last talk) and I couldn't watch as it was just to HOT.

Me and my friend had a permanent look of amazement on our faces, esp. the male dancer and that amazing kiss.

Maybe I like this for the wrong reasons.... the battles were very violent though it was a good yarn. Impressed. My Colin's miniskirt. :)

well i went to see this movie and in all honesty i hated it.

i walked out after about 1hr of watching it as it was just god awful, i have never walked out of a movie before untill i saw this.

Alexander doesn't deserve the savaging that has been piled on it. I've seen it twice now and I LOVED it both times.

Pretty much all the important events (including the kiss after Bagoas' dance) actually happened in reality, Stone hasn't whitewashed anything and he deserves praise for this. I'm seeing it again tomorrow and I'm sure I'll love it then as well...can't wait for the DVD.

This film is a misunderstood classic, but then again most of the films we consider 'classics' were panned when they were first released. I'm sure the same thing will happen with Alexander.

I agree with Jenna.

I think this film will be a sleeper. Appreciated in years to come, although it seems like Europe is already enjoying it much more than in North America.

The acting was good. The relationship between Alexander and Hephaiston was beautifully and tastefully done. The battle scenes were spectacular.

Part of the problem with some audiences may have been a slight confusion, if they didn't know anything about Alexander's life or the people around him. Perhaps that could have been made clearer.

Overall though, I thought it an excellent film.

Yep, I'm going to see it again tonight, I just dont get how people are hating it!

How can people be bored? It is a little long, but length doesnt equal boredom. Probably arent enought guns and explosions for them...

I hated it because it seemed homophobic to me! I dare to say: that's typically Hollywood! That kiss (oh my God! Two men kissing! And such a sin in an American movie!!) between Alexander and Bagoas was not hot at all. I would have loved the movie at least a little if Alexander had kissed Hephaistion once

Hephaistion is the best. I am now called that. I loved the gay stuff, after all, I'm a gay man in a girls body. I watched it with a hge smile on my face,

but I also love how its shot. I love the dutchtilt shot on alexander when he goes to babylon, the flashback and also when he cries all covered in blood. wow.

dvd release date? :)

A kiss between Alexander and Hephaistion wouldn't have changed anything about their relationship. I'm the biggest A/H groupie and I was 100% satisfied with how they were portrayed. No-one in their right mind believed they were just frienRAB.

Also, this wasn't a 'nice' world and I praise Oliver for portraying it accurately. Alexander had multiple lovers because THAT'S HOW IT WAS IN REALITY. Monogamy for men didn't exist as a concept and Alexander (and Hephaistion) would never have had any reason to engage in it. Women had no rights during this time so why should Alexander treat Roxane any differently than any woman would have been treated?

I believe the DVD is released around April.

I neither particularly liked or disliked this film. I think it lasted longer than neccessary, how many battle scenes do we really need to see? I think the lack of a Hephastion/Alexander kiss seemed strange, you would have expected them to have acted on all of that sexual tension but as typical of American movies, the subject was just glossed over.

I think that this film is worth seeing and that Jared Leto is the best thing in it, and that Angelina Jolie is amazing BUT it was over long and heavy going, you wouldnt watch it more than once and you wouldnt buy the DVD. I was more than ready for it to finish

Theres going to be a New Alexander movie with Leo Di Caprio and Nicole Kidman. I think they might not do it now because this film has not been recieved well.

Sad cause that movie would have been better

Alexander the Great deserves a good movie he did conquer the know world :D

You can't say the A/H relationship was 'glossed over' and the makers were too scared to film a kiss, when Alexander kisses Bagoas in the film. The way they handled it was just fine.

Also, Alexander isn't an American film, it's European.

There was a half hour interview with Oliver Stone on tv last night. He said that Americans know nothing about ancient history and that the press played up the bisexuality. That more people saw the film on the opening weekend in Croatia than did the whole of the south in the USA.

He said that he had made enemies during his career due to films like Platoon, JFK etc.

It was an interesting interview.

Well Alexander went through 12 years of travel, battles and constant hard slog - to be honest 3 hours isn't long enough!

If the film had been 8 hours long I'd have happily sat through it.
