Hey all!

I did some reading about the AA program a while back and have decided to make my own recovery program, and progress is positive!

As you may have read in previous posts, I am 21 and I drink (or did drink) a bottle and a half of wine a night.

So after some planning, I've made my own homebrew (excuse the pun) recovery program.

The first step was to take more morning shifts at my job (I used to work mostly nights).

Then I limited drinking my normal amount to weekenRAB ONLY. This was on the condition that I did not have plans, but to counter the danger of snubbing plans to allow drinking, I took a cue from the movie "Yes Man" and decided I would agree to any offer of things to do that I was presented with (within reason!).

This has led to some hefty drink oriented social situations, but to me, that's progress, I'm socializing more, a lot more actually. When I do go out drinking with others, I take out

It sounRAB like you have some good intentions. It also sounRAB like you have taken two steps forward and one step back. You have traded wine for brandy. Now you are drinking hard liquor. You do not have to drink to socialize and the longer you stay sober the better you will feel emotionally and physically.

Yeah, I'm making some progress but it's still not perfect. I may be drinking spirits now, but considerably less of it! A shot of brandy is less than a glass of wine in content, and many people drink that much in a day anyway. I would call one shot of brandy a day still sober.
