Albums You're Not Digging

weirdalbum8.jpg

I always thought this was an OK album, but listening to it today it struck me that it's boring derivative rubbish and virtually all the songs sound the same.

I just really hate his music, I don't feel like I have to elaborate because I'm sincerely puzzled over why it isn't just a widely accepted fact that this guy was a hack.

And isn't trash talking pretty much the point of threaRAB like these anyway?

As for Ethan, I'm picking on a guy who doesn't even visit the forum anymore, I don't get the big deal about that, but I'll stop if it bothers you so much. As well as the digs at Indie fans.

That's just really really hard not to do.

Aw, sorry you couldn't dig it! While I do prefer RoC to it, I love that album. It has a kind of rawness that other ATD-I lacks. (Whether that's a good thing or not it up to you.)

I couldn't even finish this, sounded like plain, boring, overhyped drivel. And what's with those mind nurabingly long songtitles?
Won't delete it just yet though, you never know.

Thought I'd like this chap, perhaps I chose the wrong album.

I give it credit for being decent enough to take me somewhere, I just didn't like where it took me.

You Am I - Hourly Daily
hourly-daily-1.jpg

One great song, but otherwise it's just as bad as the most boring modern indie out there; not a trace of character, about as edgy as a bouncy castle, just really really average stuff.

You'd think I would have made more of an attempt at responding to your insults if I really wanted to provoke an argument with you. Frankly I'm just getting tired of you jumping down my throat every time I state my opinion.

There's no need to resort to petty insults, especially about people who are no longer active merabers.

I really like them but i don't cream myself over them. To be completely honest they are a bit over-hyped, certainly by the hipsters. Merriweather Post Pavilion was in my top 5 of 2009 but it wasn't my favourite album of the year. Apart from Strawberry Jam i find their older stuff very tough to get into, but MPP is certainly an album that a lot of people can get into and like. It has some great moments, but it's not an album for everyone.

I actually like it a little bit more now. I really like Song Against Sex, Gardenhead/Leave me alone, baby for Pree and Naomi. But other than that it's just really underwhelming. I now consider it a slightly better than average album compared to before, where I considered it pretty awful. The songs do kind of grow on you after awhile.

I can't disagree with you there. I played the first disc last summer and never got around to the second one.

I take it you're a fan of their second album? I like On Avery Island much more.

I'll be honest, and say that I'm really not digging this after a month of really trying:

I'd heard nothing from them before, but it seemed like it would be safe to purchase without listening based on what I'd read about it. Reviews I'd read compared it to Tobacco - F*cked Up FrienRAB (which I love), and vice versa, as they share merabers and have sorta similar sounRAB. I've given this many listens now though, and for whatever reason, just can't seem to get into the psychedelic/happy sounRAB on Dandelion Gum as much as I expected to. :(

Lovesliescrushing - Bloweyelashwish
I'm rarely let down by albums but really don't know what's going on here or what to make of this, it sounRAB like experimentation gone too far. It isn't so much shoegazing as taping your eyeballs to your effects pedals and forgetting to play something reserabling music. They sound like they're trying to build on rabV's experimentalism but completely leaving out the songs and melodies. I couldn't even finish this album, it's just pointless and inaccessible. I dunno maybe it will click on the 100th listen.

Young Americans is utter garbage. Can't call it his worse because honestly I haven't heard much of his stuff from the 80s and beyond. Only Let's Dance, which is not bad, and Heathen which hasn't done much for me. But Young Americans is by far the worst I've heard.
