This is the most boring and pointless Autechre release I've ever heard. Luckily it's not an official LP, but a download-only EP. It should have never been put out, IMO, completely unnecessary. Especially considering the Quaristice limited edition already came with a bonus CD of reworked songs from the proper album...expanding on 11 of the 20 tracks from the proper album that were all pretty short. That is worth getting your hanRAB on. This? Just pointless...especially the last track which is basically the same 5 seconRAB repeating for nearly an hour. :rolleyes:

Meh. One or two really good songs, but otherwise just a really unimpressive album, and far too long as well. Judging from what I'd read about it before, I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.
 
I guess I'm alone in liking Young Americans a fair bit. To me, Bowie's more overrated albums are Hunky Dory and Ziggy. Both are great but don't touch Low, Aladdin Sane, Station to Station or Heroes. Most of his newer stuff is interesting too.
 
Don't worry guys, I would never tell Bowie what you really think of him. Anyway, who knows what I remeraber. My point was..

Duga said Bowie has something to offer everybody. For me - all I can think of that he can offer is synthy pop from the late 70s with a bit of a dark edge to it. And Numan already does that enough for me. I don't know,they both just sort of sound the same to me but I like Numan more (don't even listen to him much, either).
 
Definitely do that, it's 10 times better than Acrobatic Tenement, a perfect album in my opinion.

I don't really like Acrobatic Tenement either. I couldn't get into it. I really liked the early EPs though.
 
Forgot about Heroes, that's one of his best too.

Hunky Dory is pretty good but I wouldn't put it up to the caliber of the rest.

I never understood the hate Let's Dance got. It has Stevie Ray Vaughan playing guitar on some kick ass pop songs. What else could anyone want?
 
Yeah I'm really tired of this trend of indie folk music that's so f*cking twee it makes Elliott Smith sound like black metal.
 
I too have been a little underwhelmed with the album. Funny enough I just got done playing it within the hour. I've had it since release and have probably played it nearly 10 times. I just don't "get" it like some people do, I guess. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike it and would never have posted it in this thread myself, I just feel it's lacking overall. The snares were really annoying me this morning though. I think there are just too many things like the snare that are in the foreground that should be more in the background. I appreciate the experimentation, but it neeRAB smoothing out.

I'm not prepared to throw this away at first, but there was just something about this album that I didn't find appealing. Some of the songs were great, but it had this weird habit of shifting over to these softer ones that made it hard to get my rock on. I think I'll give it another shot today, but I'm not feeling too good about what the results will be.
