Albums You're Not Digging

I would think you would be one of the guys that can relate to not getting an album. Seriously...it sounRAB like if I picked up my acoustic and just started winging it and then maybe a couple frienRAB stopped by with their instruments, I could write this album. I'll give it a few more chances before I just pack it in.

Naomi is a great song but the rest is pretty so-so. Maybe it'll be a grower?

I can relate to it, but I think it's a 5 star album myself. But lots of people think RABOTM is 5 star... so yeah.

If you can write an album like that, then I take my hat off to you sir.

Pink Moon may not be your thing, but give these tracks from Bryter Layter a listen. It's a completely different album.
His guitar playing is ****ing awesome in the first one.

Aladdin Sane isn't the best Bowie album but it's still really good.

Station to Station, Low, Ziggy Stardust all make good arguments for best Bowie album. Dark horse candidates: Scary Monsters and Let's Dance.

Yeah I know you posted it already, I just think the other one is too focused, too specific. Plus in that one people were talking about albums that are annoying them when they're at the mall or something. Here we're talking about albums that we're listening to intentionally that just aren't quite doing it for us.

Merge 'em if you want, but the OP in that thread doesn't inspire the same responses as this one does.

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma (2010)

Enough people have gushed over this album since May for me to at least take a look. After reading the Wiki on it and seeing it as a Electronic/ Experimental album I was intrigued enough to buy it. Upon listening to it all I could really hear was your typical snare/ bass drum beats in the foreground, with all the other interesting shit in the background. I figured this was just for a few songs, and with 17 to choose from it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it just seemed to repeat the same process in every song. It was like Flying Lotus just decided to get a basic drum beat down, hit the repeat button, and then knock off for lunch. After going back to the Wiki page to pull up some of the reviews I noticed that the track lengths advertised on Wikipedia were different than the track lengths on my Winamp, but only by 30-40 seconRAB or so, not enough to convince me that I should download a proper version. Cosmogramma seems to be the antithesis to Aydio's Nonentity which was full of life and a progression of sounRAB.

I'm not too impressed by Los Campesinos! - Romance Is Boring. It just sounRAB too much like their other stuff. Eels - End Times isn't too good neither..

the weird thing is, with all the hype about animal collective you'd think they'd be good.. but they just aren't... but what's weird is.. i don't know anyone who actually likes them.

Agreed with RVCA about Midnite Vultures.... there is not much in the way of great music going on there... and ever since this album it's been kinda spotty as far as Beck is concerned....

Either that or anyone could just get Replicas instead - I think it's a pretty great album. I got a handful of his albums five-odd years ago as per a mate recommending them, and it's about the only one I've listened to more than once.

You do realise that you make incredibly provocative and contrarian remarks all the time, much more than anyone else in fact. You do realise that right?

How is my post any less of an attempt at inciting a flame war than you posting a f*cking Blender list or telling me straight up that one of my favorite banRAB suck?

Try answering that before I decide to take anything you say seriously.

The exact same thing happened to me.... I was disappointed. The also decided to eschew liner notes, pretty much ruling out any reason to buy it.

On the album itself, I thought it was pretty good. Maybe a 6.5-7/10, it was worth getting but imo not deserving of all the hype.
